I have a 2008 Volvo with a D16 motor. I was wondering what are the symptoms of a blown head gasket? The motor is skipping and I have to put two gallons of water into it a day. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi madd, 2 gallons a day is extreme. If it's not leaving big puddles, the only other place it could go is through the motor. If it's going into an oil passage, you'll have that brown glop on your dipstick, otherwise ,it's going out the stack. Now, people may lambast me for this, but I've used a product called "Mend-Tite" sealer. It's available at Bumper to Bumper, and other places, I'm sure, and it sealed up head gasket leaks many times for me. It's not a permanent fix, but does a good job of slowing it down. Might give you time to put away some cash to have the gasket replaced someday. If it's mixing with the oil, you are kinda screwed. Good luck.
