I'll be in truck driving school in June here in Alabama. Thinking about going with H.O.Wolding as a student driver how are they to work for? How are the trainers ? Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks
Iceman1984 Thanks this. -
I just applied at H.O. Wolding yesterday...we'll see. Did you end up going with them Rollieman?

I got a pre-hire from them a couple weeks ago (I'm in Tampa, FL), but I'm still in CDL school until Oct 2. Will keep looking at other options of course until then, but hopefully their hiring situation won't change before I graduate. Definitely keep this thread updated so we can learn from each other!

If you can get hired out of Florida as a student, I would go with them if you're willing to go all 48. I worked there for 18+ months and it was the best OTR gig I've ever had. There good money to be made if you hit the big bonus and don't hit anything. If you somehow manage to get my dispatcher or another lady whose name begins with an S, they will run your tail off if you want. Pretty lenient on home time, great maintenance program. When I was there they had a pretty good benefits package, as well. Pay raises up to 14 years, pet policy, rider policy. Riders could go for free, pets had a $250 deposit with an additional $500/$750 for the pet. They were a laid back company that was big on safety and treated me fairly. Just communicate with them and you'll do fine.
And if it matters, in my first year I made $54,600 and was on pace to hit $60k in my second before I moved. It all depends on the driver, but it fairness, that was before these stupid new reset rules. I used to burn through my 70 and take a reset whenever I could squeeze it and I was always asking for extra work if they had it available.
I hope this all helps, and I'll do my best if you have any other questions. Best of luck with your new adventure.12String Thanks this. -
Thanks Weeble, I did read through this entire thread when doing my research, and your experience and the others here were one of the big factors in my applying at Wolding

Bram, bunnyslayer, & BiggyD any of you with Wolding & out there yet? There's never any posts on here unless someone inquires about them and that's unfortunate. This used to be a hot thread.

I would like to hear some more thoughts on the company. I am from wi, wondering if it's a good location to drive for them and what type of stuff they haul.

I'm still here, with Wolding that is. I don't spend a lot of time on the forums theses days but will try to be more in touch. I keep forgetting my darn password.

So how is it working for them? What kinda miles, truck conditions, wage, basically trying to figure out some info from people actually working there being that recruiters can say anything. Info would help tons thanks
