Any drivers from holding out here I have a few questions for you all. What should a new driver expect mileage wise per week? What kind of driver incentives are there? How often do y get home?

I would like some info to on the company

My buddy works for HOW. He has been with them almost 2 years. make decent money is home when need. He gets home anytime he needs it has a great former driver for a dispatcher so they get it. Every 3 months he goes to WI for truck maintenance and quarterly safety meeting, since he is on west coast he spends most of his time on this coast. He has no complaint at all. His son was in a horrible car accident last year the company got him a load close to where his son was and then repowered the load off him and he spent 3 weeks sleeping in his truck in the hospital parking lot while his son recovered. He has been bugging me to apply for HOW so I finally did this week along with a few others. We will see how things go.
Post any questions and I can ask him he does not like technology so I will ask and post his response.Last edited: Jul 21, 2014
duramax1 Thanks this. -
Good to hear they are still a driver oriented company. They were the first company I ever worked for back in 93. Nice people back then. I think Terry was my dispatcher, nice lady. Do they still go by "Herbie" on the radio?

Your mileage depends on you. Everyone runs different some push that 11 hour clock everyday, sleep at shippers and are willing to go a day or two without a shower while others want a little less stress. When your just starting out there is a lot to learn and one of those things is maximizing your hours for driving. A lot will also depend on your dispatcher.
That dispatcher has to learn to trust you. Will you get the loads there on time or will you be stopped hanging out at truck stops five times a day etc.
the bonus program is good, there's a mileage bonus based upon what you do in a quarter as well as a safety bonus after your first year.
so far I've gone home on average 4 times a year but I am not the norm. HOW is good with home time.

Wolding only has one yard,it's Amherst, Wisconsin. My truck is nice, I just did laundry so have clean sheets, got it washed and vacuumed today. Stocked the fridge and am now sitting at the receiver watching tv. I guess what I should be asking is define nice? I've seen brand new trucks so dirty inside I wouldn't let me dog go in it and I've seen older trucks that are a palace on wheels. Your truck is as nice as you make it.
Wolding does a great job taking care of their equipment which is the important thing. We only haul dry van. -
Good. Sounds like good place to start.
