And don't forget to yell into it so you'll get out further.double yellow Thanks this. -
I run a tri-axle dump and we use CB in the stone quarries and sand pits, but our spare trucks don't have radios, as do some of the outside haulers. Some quarries have speakers or phones at the scale that enable you to talk to the weighmaster, but nowhere we go is a CB required.
Now on the other hand, one company whose quarries we go to use NO CB's in the loaders or the scales. Their choice of course but it's a PITA if you are trying to find a specialty material or they move the piles which happens once or twice a year. They actually pay a guy to ride around in a pick up to lead strays to the right piles. -
No, but I pulled end dumps for a minute and wasn't even allowed to leave the yard without a CB because every place they go used CB's for communication.
They laughed when I whipped out the old Robyn DG-35! -
hahahahahahahaha

But what if you only have an old 21 channel rig?

####. I guess my peaked-and-tuned, but otherwise Stockity McStockStock 29 LX is just a pile of parts then, by that measure! No echo, no roger beep, no noise toys, no chrome case and no rebel flag faceplate. Just a P&T and a CR-577 mic...which is set around 1.5 for the volume...not turned all the way up like a good super trucker would.

And get rid of that annoying echo that some drivers think is cool. It sounds horrible and you can't understand a word that is said.
