If this was really true, then the home time fleets would not exist, as they would not even make enough to stay around.

 

Your first mistake was taking a relay without a scale ticket. You should have told them to either bring the Driver that dripped it back to scale it or get one of their Drivers that likes to drive for fines to take it instead because you weren't going to take it. Since you decided to take to take you should have ran up on a Cat Scale and red tagged the trailer once in Gary. Screw that crying *** Driver. Lol!

My logic is simple math. The longer you stay out, the more days you have in which you can get a long run. Staying out 11 days is not gonna get you a load from east to west coast and back, as there is not enough time to do it in. And the last 3-4 days before hometime is not gonna allow you to get a 1000 mile load in the opposite direction from your home. So in an 11 day period, you only have about 7-8 days that ROEHL can give you loads of 1000 miles or longer. Stay out 30 days and you go from 7-8 days 26-27 days that you can get 1000 mile loads or longer.
In the last 4 weeks, I have had 5 loads of over 1000 miles. I would have missed out on some of them if I was due hometime 2-3 days after pickup.
Does not mean you will definitely get good miles if you stay out longer, but it definitely increases your chances.

 

I have to agree with Viking84 on this. My long runs have increased already, of course I have only one period of two weeks out in the books to date. So far it's a marked improvement in total miles. I launch back out on Tuesday for another 12 day's so we shall see how the card play out. Yet the fact remains that I have turned better miles since starting the 12 day run. So, Viking84's theory does hold water!

 

Next time don't say anything about the light. Just let him think it burnt out after you dropped it.
It's not your fault for someone else's truck being too heavy with a load. I'm guessing they fueled up before grabbing the load and checking the weight on it. No scale ticket? I'll say a majority of relay loads I've picked up had no scale ticket. And I've never whined to dispatch about it in my almost 5 years here. Most the time I reweigh the load even if it does have a scale ticket.
This crybaby isn't going to last long if he does this all the time. We don't need people like that in trucking.

 

I've been here long enough to know that staying out longer is the key to making money. I stay out just about a month each time and make more doing that.

 

I've made more $ on dedicated (home 2 nights week) than on national (home every 2 weeks).
More D&H and fresh 70 most weeks means 40-50 miles more per day and sitting/restarts at home.

 

Roehl is creepy. I got a message after I left the Appleton terminal about remembering to watch for students and employees in the lot.... (Duh??? I didn't hit anyone?) and to use 3 points of contact getting out of my truck, not go forward.
Really? Y'all got nothing better to do than be a creep and watch me on your cameras? I wasn't being crazy and I'm always watching where I'm going? And I haven't fallen out of my truck yet, so leave me alone.

When I was pulling open deck for Roehl, I was staying out 3 to 4 weeks at a time, averaged 2100 a week, and sat A LOT. Perfect record on all accounts and never complained. Maybe things have changed but miles sucked and was one of the main reasons I moved to greener pastures.
