Handicapped parking

I have a purple heart also. Wut does that have to do with me being deemed as disabled? I have a handicap tag/sticker and so wut!!!

 

I would have to agree, if a person cannot get around good them truck driving should not be an option.

Many times I've stopped at the top of a mountain & adjusted every brake on my truck & trailer, that handicapped person would have a very difficult time of doing that, & probably wouldn't do so, just roll off the mountain & what would happen will happen.

And most of the people here in my home town that uses the handicap parking places can walk much better than I can, besides, most of them needs the exercise.

And they also ride the scooters in Walmart.

 

Here is a new and novel idea. How about keeping your brakes adjusted up all the time ( by a mechanic ), that is what I have always done. Even before I developed by physical problems that are caused by so many years of driving truck. But I have always been a company driver and I recognize that creates a little different outlook on that sort of thing. Back in the days before self adjusting brakes came out I would adjust my trailer brakes (car hauler) but not the tractor, had a thing about getting dirty.

 

There should be no blanket authorization for just having the PH. You can have a finger blown off in combat and be awarded the PH and still be qualified to drive.

 

There was a driver for Allied System out of their Louisville Ky terminal that had one arm missing. It always amazed me to see him climb all over that truck while loading and chaining down his load of cars and trucks. Have to give a guy like that a world of credit.

 

Every driver that I see park in those spots are typically fat lards, which I firmly believe is not a good reason to have a handicap placard.

 

The shop is not always handy setting at the top of the mountain when the brakes needs to be adjusted. As for me I would adjust all of them. A little dirt never hurt a real truck driver. And I drove for a small company.

I would rather be safe than lazy.

 

Your comments are so far out in left field they don't deserve a civil response. A real truck driver is smart enough to plan ahead and being a dirty pig helps nothing and only indicates a person is dirty and nothing more. I guess that mountain just popped up with no prior warning.

 

I know a cpl drivers that are not able to walk great distances and are able to do their job just fine. One has a prosthetic leg, one a foot, and one just has bad knees and feet.
