I only found one article on it, who knows what happened. Poor guy and cant imagine what his family is going through
Where did you see or read he only had 2 chains? -
Maybe from the pictures?
But eitherway,as that W500 rode over the neck to get to the cab it cannot have had much securement.Last edited: Jul 20, 2014
281ric Thanks this. -
There is a dozer in these pictures?

I've hauled heavy equipment, and while it's a good job, it is pretty tense. Truth be known, on a piece that large, the chains, unless you have about 10 of them, basically keep it from walking off the trailer, and in a sudden stop, as what looks like what happened here, I'm sure, the machine is going for a ride, especially a wheeled machine, with a higher center of gravity, as compared to a track machine. I'll bet that was a grizzly scene.

Did a good job compacting that cab.

It would be hard to imagine a worse scene than that. Nothing left...
Personally, I don't like for the term suicide to be used, unless there was something to support this idea.jsnell, Suffacated, Raiderfanatic and 1 other person Thank this. -
That rgn acts like a ramp into the back of the cab. 1/2" multi-cross chained. Never knew what happened.

Those pictures remember me of a poster I saw at the Banning coops.
I believe it was 1984 or 85. Got pulled into a bay for inspection.
Went inside after completion ..the poster on the wall insider showed
something like these photos but it showed more. I remember the quote:
"Joe was dead tired. Now Joe is just dead."Nothereoften, Suffacated and 281ric Thank this. -
My brother in law was killed the same way. He had 6 chains on his but a 4 wheeler pulled out in front of him so he had to hit the brakes hard. The truck stopped but the piece of equipment didnt. I started out pulling stuff like that. That thing gets ready to break loose, I dont think it would matter what you had on it. His snapped those chains like they were nothing.
