Avoid the single post bird perch, those are a waste of money that will cost more when vibration strips out the threading.

Dual post bird perches are much more reliable. I bought my antenna, bird perch, and mount from the NTS on I-10 in New Mexico (east side, can't remember the town name off the top of my head, but it's the only one along I-10 in the state.)

I also paid for the installation, and I'm glad I did. The guy did a great job running the coax, it looks like a factory job.

The mirror mount is 6ft off the ground. Longer is better. I'm now running a 7ft SkipShooter. Works good, SWR is under 1.5:1 over at least 80 channels. These new skip shooters are flimsy at that length. I'm gonna build a little support for mine and see how it works. Problem with those high dollar antennas like the 10Km mounted down that low where it can be reached from the ground, someone will probably "borrow" it from you sooner or later.

I have the predator 10k 22 inch shaft single coil works great swr 1.7 across the board cost 80 for antenna but I've seen them for less bobscb in pa carries them and the best perch I've seen stainless steel uses both front mirror mount bolts

yes I'm in a cascadia anything under 3:1 is believed safe idealy 1.5:1 is what you want 1.7:1 would not be considered high

1.7 by my standards is pretty high. I've got my Monkey-Made tuned down to 1.3, and I would be frustrated if it was much more than that.

I also have a little 2-foot whip mounted pointing down underneath the MM, dead-shorted to the mount, as counterpoise. Didn't really change the SWR number at all, but I can confirm my range improved by a significant amount.

are you also in a new cascadia most cb shops won't even mess with getting the swr under a 2 they just tell you that about the best you will get because of the truck yes a lot lower number can be achieved if you work at it but to compare a 1.3 to a 1.7 could be as much as a difference in the needle size on meters lol just my opinion if you are below a 2:1 and you have the same reading on channel 1 that you have on 40 leave it alone especially if you are driving a new cascadia
