That's why I bought what I did. I am pretty positive on it lasting me long enough without major repairs to get my foot in the door so to speak in the O/O game. Even if the worst happens I do have the funds to rebuild or repair. Honestly though I don't want to get rid of the truck since the setup is so rare and just great all around! I don't think a Glider would be in my budget in 3 years, that would be awesome but highly unlikely! It would be a sick setup to swap into a nice new T660 glider!dannythetrucker Thanks this.

I just posted that video up on the facebook page, Maintenance Matters: Truckers edition. well, in addition to what you said I believe that those 50-65 year old hands are a lot of what is holding this industry together, and I agree a lot of them are not gonna be willing to replace equipment, not gonna deal with EOBR's, etc... All I can say is my life and my business is built on turning lemons into lemonaide. Change breeds opportunity, and I look forward to it all, but there is gonna be some trying times ahead, no doubt.

Aurora, OR at the J... kicked off some animal feed nutrient in sumas up by the Canadian border this AM then headed down to Mt. Vernon and loaded some lumber bound for Stockton, Ca...been getting good sleep this week

tighten the ol' belt like a mutha####a, that available capital is a ruling factor on where you go from here now that you have a start. I don't personally love or embrace that philosophically, but as a business guy in the trucking industry, that's facts jack ! I don't know what you planned on doing , but if your eyes are open and your ears are open you will find opportunities every day, and the only limitation to capitalizing those opportunities is bankroll. I've already missed some amazing ones, just not ready yet. build that bankroll. those that got it are lazy, they're slacking off on contracts instead of out playing the game. stuff changes everyday, opportunities every second, go for it man !

my opinion is independant O/O is hardball. I got killed my first year and there ain't gonna be noone to help you. lease with a good carrier is a safe bet. Finding good customers, booking broker loads, etc... are all skills and if you don't have them, gonna take time to develop. I'm a jump in and learn how to swim guy, my only regret is not doing it sooner. Personally, the more the industry is dominated by mega-carriers the happier I'll be because they can't do what I do and I will find ways to market service and reliability and find customers who desire that. I think it's a good time to go independent, but you gonna learn quick or go broke quick IMO. It's hardball, you can't just whine like lease drivers about what your company is offering you. Sorry to say that, but it's facts. If you can do it better, get your authority and do it.
