coolant in oil

Hi eric, this comes up more in summer. Head gasket, cracked block or head(s) or oil cooler. I'd probably start with the oil cooler. I've used a product called "Mend-Tite" block sealer many times with great results( available at Bumper to Bumper). It's kind of a band-aid on a much more serious repair, but if you catch it early, it can buy you a little time. If the oil is that milky glop on the dipstick, it might be too late for "Mend-Tite". Don't know ....over heating/ blown head?

 

Oil cooler is a probably your issue on this.Just recently had mine replaced.Make sure they flush the system multiple times to clear out all the sludge as it has a tendency to stick in the hoses and heater core and such.

 

milkshake time

 

that could be a bad air compressor. had same prob years ago coolant in oil. compressor head was bad.

 

You know I read it wrong.Coolant in oil could be a compressor or head gasket.If you're not getting a milkshake looking sludge on your dipstick its not a bad leak.Just a bit on your fill cap could just be condensation from idling too much sometimes the engine temp doesn't get hot enough to burn any condensation out of the oil.As far as adding 5 to 7 gallons a day you might want to just turn that truck in.You could be leaking coolant into a cylinder and burning it off but 5 to 7 gallons I'm thinking would be the making of a blown engine.
