Thanks @isaiahjw, you really answered almost all questions I had about the process. I am thinking very seriously about trying the school for Celadon. Trucking is something that I have always wanted to do especially since I love traveling and my youngest will be out the house soon and on his way to college. I have done the dead end, hated to do, unfulfilling jobs and now, I have the chance, hopefully an opportunity to do what I know I will absolutely love doing. I hope to one day have the opportunity to again speak with all of you who have been so encouraging and upbeat about the school and trucking.
Best of luck to each of you and stay blessed

Jeff here is my thought about it.Yes it is not acceptable making .18 a mile but you all so have to stop and think.Yes they do pay for your school yes they do pay for you to eat at school and they give you a place to live. But all so us new drivers are just starting out yes it would be nice to be making .34 a mile but right now this is getting are foot in the door. And any more every one has to start somewhere for alot less.

@Iam251 Again like I said before on another post if you are unhappy then find another school nothing is keeping you here.

I'm guessing you are an employee of the school? I am going to stick it out but I am also going to present the facts.

@JRay***I am getting a lot of conflicting information when I talk to people at Celadon. I am already sold on going to the school but I just need to know more information on how it goes once you are out of the school and on your own. What are the rules to going O/O? And what are the rules to going lease purchase as a team? I have lots of questions but not getting any straight answers. Everyone has a different answer or they just don't know. Would recommend talking to the leasing department, sales, or just the recruiter? Any advice or insight would really help...
    Thanks

    AquariusDoll,

You might never get a straight answer. 90% of this industry is opinion. The only questions that have straight answers are the ones the involve the laws and then it might not be easy to find the right answer.

What I can tell you is that if you choose L/P out of school, I think that means that you don't have to run team to fulfill your contract. I don't know how a L/P team would work, which of you would own the truck?

The recruiter, the leasing department and sales are all good places to start gathering information but do keep in mind that it is their job to sell you on something. Personally, I would ask those questions after I got to the school. I would spend the weekends down by the terminal talking to the drivers about why they chose the option they chose and more importantly why they didn't choose the other ones. Good Luck!

@dumbolnd, how has the school been since you started? And also, is there any truth to having to wait weeks before getting to actually train? I have read so much negative mess on here, that it makes me want to go that much more because it makes me think, wow what did those drivers do to not be successful in what they started out doing. I do know the answers to some of those guys belkyachings because they tell off on themselves in their own postings. Keep us posted on your stats. I am really excited about this.

I left a very accurate discription of how it is here in another thread about the school. I suggest checking it out. I have presented only facts about the school.

Your best bet is not to ask the school because they are dead set on making every student team. When you get done with the school and you go to Celadon they could give you the best info there is.But as for the schools I wont lie to you yes it has its ups and downs but what school dont? But I wish you the best of luck and if you have any questions feel free to message me and I will help you out the best I can.
