Hmmmm... I may have answered my own question. It seems the CDL restrictions are the ones for only intrastate driving, or for vehicles without air brakes. However, if my sight correction is still a concern, please let me know!

I am looking at changing my career from chef to truck driver! Just don't want to be gone for such long periods of time ! I have a wife and a 10 year old son , and would like to see him grow up. Are there any companies that I can make money with that I could be home every week , and still make good money? Also is working 6-7 days a week to get one day off the norm? I have just NEVER seen a job that you have to work that long for such few days off?! Any help would be appreciated .

My advice. If you don't want to make the sacrifices this job demands...consider another career.

Along the lines of what Steven said its not a family friendly profession. You could look into a local or ltl company like roadway but they generally want you to have experience before they'll hire you

Millis has a regional fleet which is home every weekend.
