Driver Tip: August 1,2,3 , I-75 southbound through Cincinnati will be closed for construction. I-75 northbound will be open but does have construction going on. My best advice is to take the 275 loop around the city and avoid any delays.-

Shame on those newbies who lease. They get stupid when they see the dollar signs. "Make $138,000 a year". After all the expenses and deductions associated with leasing or o/o you are lucky to finish with $38,000. Thats if you finish!. Some do, but the lion's share don't. If you are new, keep the liability on the company, NOT YOURSELF. Learn to drive the truck, learn your driver manager, learn the shipper and receiver habits, learn to manage your time. Pretty tall order for a newbie rookie. Yeah 13 other guys in my orientation class leased and now have gone home tail between their legs. As far as the geniuses who abandoned their trucks, your career in trucking is now over. Your DAC is permanently stained with a scarlet letter. The equivalent of the death penalty. NOBODY forced you to lease. I told my recruiter, Jonette Owens, "Jonette, I can't come to you if I gotta lease, I gotta go somewhere else. I want to be your company driver. She said, " fine, can you be Raleigh Durham tonite for a 640pm flight?, I said sure." Arrived in Dallas before midnight, and was in orientation the next morning. Been a really good two months so far with TransAm. Is it perfect, NO, but life isn't either. I wish they had a pet policy, and I wish their trucks were set at 65-68, but they are who they are. A starter company and a really good one in my book. They rescued me off the scrap heap. I was let go from Abilene for multiple minor incidences in a short period of time. I was deemed "un-rehireable" and that was on my DAC. But TA was willing to give me another shot. I guess they realize as a starter company, we, as newbies, are going to get some bumps and bruises out there. I am eternally grateful to them for giving me a final chance to make or break in this industry. I am really enjoying the travel and meeting new people. Closest thing I have ever had to a dream job. Never too late to have a happy childhood. Deuces.

An 89 year old women was arrested for shoplifting a can of peaches.
When she gets to court the judge asked her why she did it
She replied I was hungry
Judge asked how many peaches were in the can
She said 6
Judge said then I will give you six days in jail.
Before he could announce the sentence the womens husband jumped up and asked if he could say something on her behalf
The judge said what is it?
The husband replied she stole a can of peas tooCranky Yankee, HometimeQueen and dennisroc Thank this. -
All this talk about food, HTQ. Last night, and this morning, I enjoyed a couple of delectable meals at the 81 kwik mart in Marlow Oklahoma at the corner of US 81 and OK route 7. Yes it is a small truck stop with a Phillips 66 sign. Close to the Family Dollar DC in nearby Duncan OK. Enjoyed a chopped brisket dinner and baked potato with a dinner salad for $8.99. This morning, a western omelette, hash browns and toast, $5.99. Some nice Oklahoma sports memorabilia inside too. Looks like a hole in the wall from outside, but the place is clean, if unpretentious. Wait staff was quite nice as well. Didn't make me feel like a stranger. Gotta settle for Dennys tonite. Uy vey. Deuces.

Am I verbose tonite or what? Just a case of verbal diarrhea. Currently in Amarillo TX at the J waiting on an IBC meat load heading for Dunn NC and Fort Mill SC. I knew I would have a wait when my deliveries got moved back a day. So I have been here since about noon. Called the shipper soon after and she said to check back tomorrow about noon. Drop dead is 8pm tomorrow night. So glad I don't have a lease payment. Still 1868 miles on this trip. Caught a nap this afternoon and think I'll get a shower and late dinner (salad). It could be worse. I could have a lease payment. Deuces.

He is 12. Was in Vegas last night and wow the heat. 110. I was dieing. But now we are just east of Albuquerque for my 10. Heading to Olive Branch MS. Was wanting to stop at Meteor Crater but wasn't sure if they alowd truck parking. Seamed by sat pics they have big parking lot with spaces big enough for a big rig. But didn't have time anyway. Not much wiggle room on load time. Running whole trip on recap and only getting 7 hours tomorrow. Still like to know if anyone knows about truck parking there.

Olive Branch, I have 2 level ones there. The memories.

And then there were two. The number of people from my orientation, that is. A year and a half later, two are all that remain. My friend Perry, a company driver, and myself leasing. Everyone else from the Olathe group of about 25 is gone.
I'm in Limon, CO, tonight. Deliver in Longmont in the morning and then head to Grand Island to pick up by Sunday morning. Hoping to bump into my best friend in Birmingham who is finishing out his two week notice.HometimeQueen Thanks this.
