Any food bank will take bottled water. Hit the yellow pages or search online for that town and you'll find a phone number. That way they'll give you a donation receipt so it isn't a total loss.

Other items given to you then you can open shop at a truck stop. Advertise on the CB and they'll come running.

Pull up to any fire station and they will take every drop of it and unload it for you. Those guys and gals ask for donations of water and Gatorade esp if they are volunteer.

    Prolly a little late now..

    But..

Just Show up to next Shipper and tell them you got an extra pallet.
Most places will be able to use it anyway.

I've done that a couple times, had some rejected stuff.
They left the cases on a pallet....
Found someone to take the products, now I'm left with the Pallet.
I usually show up with the Pallet to the next Shipper and nobody has ever complained about it.

4 or 5 cases isn't much,it'll easily fit in your trk you keep a case and start giving out bottles of water to whoever you see.Toss the pallet in a dumpster or leave it in the trk and let the next shipper dispose of it.If it's in good shape, they won't have any problems taking it off your hands.

I'm surprised they refused the whole pallet. Whenever I had damaged cases, they made me restack the good ones, and just marked it down as a shortage.

    Yeah, that seems strange.

Especially since bottled water is such a stable commodity. So some of the bottom pallets crushed the tops, it doesn't mean the top rows aren't good.

Probably the receiver didn't want to restack a whole skid of water, so they claimed the whole thing. And given the price, were basically told to pitch it instead of trying to resell it (or it was store-brand water, so it can't go anywhere else).

As said, there are a multitude of places that will take bottled water. Food banks, soup kitchens, etc are up there. But, look outside the box. The fire dept. idea is a great one. Call an animal shelter. They always take donations, even if not directly for pets. Almost any charitable organization will take bottled water.

Must have been too damaged to resell. Some customers can be real sticklers on their product.I hauled pkgs of meat to a place in Chicago.Half the freight was all over the place on the floor but the customer still took it and didn't mark any of it as damaged freight because the shipper they said does this a lot, does'nt know how to properly secure the freight on the pallets.Told that customer I would be looking for another place to buy meat from.[QUOTE="semi" retired;4152579]I'm surprised they refused the whole pallet. I had a friend that used to take produce into Roundy's in Milwaukee before they moved to Oconomowoc( which btw, if you haven't been to the old Roundy's location, it is totally repurposed into a shopping center) and I was there when he delivered strawberries in boxes, and the entire load was tipped over, and he had to hire lumpers to restack it. This, he said, was unusual, as that never happened before. Turns out, the shipper used some real flimsy tape, and I figured the lumpers were in cahoots with the shipper so he have to hire them to restack it.

A lot of shippers out there don't know how to stack and secured like they should because they're too lazy to do their job so they leave it on the driver if freight gets damaged.[QUOTE="semi" retired;4152683]I had a friend that used to take produce into Roundy's in Milwaukee before they moved to Oconomowoc( which btw, if you haven't been to the old Roundy's location, it is totally repurposed into a shopping center) and I was there when he delivered strawberries in boxes, and the entire load was tipped over, and he had to hire lumpers to restack it.
