I was looking for partime too.I'm not a big fan of trucking especially since taking this extended vacation, lol.Ray my boyfriend has spoiled me.One company was looking for full and part time drivers as the ad said, but when I talked with him on the phone that all suddenly changed imagine that. That was probably the most dissatisfied job I have seen in the paper since being unemployed.

I can't believe my eyes just read this nonsense. You think a company is bad if they consider 11 jobs in 10 years a blight on the resume? I don't know the OP from a barrel of nuts, but unless he had the most unlucky decade of lay offs and company closures ever, no HR goon worth his weight in piss bottles is gonna think "Oh no OP quits when going gets tough he doesnt take abuse we need to hire him now".
I know a few HR flunkies, and a steady work history, even a year or two, is the first thing they look for on a resume. If that a bad company makes, I'd work for them. -
I think if they automatically discount someone because of that yes I think the company is bad without considering everything on the application. Maybe the person was ambitious and working in fast food, then retail, etc. Maybe they changed industries, maybe the economy hit them hard(they did what they could to scrap a living). My brother currently has 4 jobs in 1 year does that make him bad? He actually worked all 4 simultaneously while finishing his masters.

Also does the op not deserve a chance to show his merit to a company? Does he deserve to never work again? How would he get a job if every hr person treated him this way. I talked to a couple of guys I know and they told me they couldn't keep a job before they finally found the right fit for them, and they have been at it for 20+ years.

11 in ten years.
In the last year (The year I got my CDL). First job ran illegal once a month. Then it turned into all the time. I gave notice. 2nd job I worked for a company owner got in trouble with IRS and checks started to bounce. Took a third job got paid 2/3rds what they said, and only working 3 days a week. Running Line haul at mileage pay through NYC in the day time????? Left that one after 2nd check. Then in the previous nine years I worked a temp job for 10 weeks till the project was done. I had seven other jobs most a year, some for two years. Most I resigned from. I also worked part time at Denny's part time.Last edited: Jul 25, 2014

Sorry to hear that, stuff happens, Every job is not meant for every driver, but I think there is a right job for every driver if one looks hard enough. Anyway just curious what job made you haul line haul thru NYC in the day??

And....he hasn't applied for any positions yet...job-hopping is just that....job-hopping. The really good companies frown on it , big-time....

He has applied and at least he was keeping busy most of his working career instead of just staying at home collecting a check. I am sure he will get a good chance from a reputable company, someone will have a need and take a chance on him and hopefully it works out for both parties. Can't have crazy hiring standards in this day and age, or you will be short handed(or paying very great pay and benefits to keep those applicants applying).

Not like they use to.Companies are looking more at the MVR then anything else.Drivers are getting turned down left and right these days due to bad mvr and/or csa.So anymore companies will take what they can get that has exp as long as they have a good mvr.I've never had such an easy time finding employment as I do now.I applied for a delivery route driver a month ago,the recruiter called and wanted to schedule me for an interview this Wednesday.I told her I already have a job.Well i'll keep your application on file incase you change your mind she says.Employers are really desparate for drivers.I see many signs planted in the ground looking for drivers and a couple that has a huge banner on their building for drivers. If the op looks hard enough along with patience,im sure somebody will be most interested.
