I'll follow my heart but not until I use my head and weigh all the pros and cons, like I said I'm not in a hurry.
Anyways the smaller company doesn't have much turn over so I'm really just getting my foot in the door, it could take a while to get on with them.
Thinking of jumping ship after almost 3 years

How is the company you work for now treating you? Do they leave you alone and let you do your job or do they micromanage everything to death and use scare tactics and a de merit system like alot of these companies are doing these days that use to be good to work for. To me being happy is far more valuable than a little more pay each week.

Not much to say but this. Your friend dropped dead. From too much OT? not enough rest? not eating right? Any over time over what your getting now is being taken away from your family assuming your married. Money aint every thing.
More overtime can put you into a higher tax bracket is more taxes and that's bringing less money home. Many over look that and wonder what happened.Derailed Thanks this. -

They aren't bad really but I think the smaller company I picked up an app for may be better, I have talked with a number of their drivers and heard no complaints and in fact quite the contrary.
One guy I was with in the tipper booth with at Weyerhaeuser Longview,WA while dumping chips on side by side tippers was pretty animated about how good his company was to their drivers.
I had to seek the place out, they never advertise for drivers and their yard/shop is out in a rural area not too far from where I live.
It's a small family owned business and the owners live on the property where the yard and shop is.
I think my bud was a ticking time bomb,he only worked there for a couple months after leaving the company I'm with now.
That said I agree with you,I have a family but my kids are grown and on their own now but OT I do a lot of already just to make ends meet so I'd just be making more money for the same amount of hours.
At any rate, I'm leaning more towards the small company that pays percentage of laod doing the same type of work I do now VS the bigger sand and gravel outfit that pays hourly.
Still doing my homework/research on both and I ain't jump'n without a parachute lol.
Thanks all who have responded so far, I truly appreciate all the thoughts and insight. The Challenger Thanks this. -
Sand and gravel job pays good but its seasonal isn't it?You'll only have a month or 2 left and collecting unemployment can't possibly pay what you're making now. Then an hr from you mreans getting up extra early using your own gas.Even though it pays well im seeing more cons the pros to that job.Is the chip hauler position a permanent job or seasonal?
