If you fight it, my defense would be better than "it was some stupid 4 wheeler's fault"...sometimes part of trucking means you have to bite the bullet and wait the situation out. None of us like it, but it sure beats a ticket.

I can't think of any highway when entering Ca. that is more than 2 lanes (in one direction). I-8/I-10/I-15/I-40/I-80 all 2 lanes (in 1 direction). I-5 from Or. as I remember is 2 lanes, so the sign stating "right lane only except to pass" is valid, because it is just 2 lanes where the sign is posted. The confusion comes from out of state trucks because Ca. does not actually post "no trucks left lane" anywhere that I've seen. It's in the vehicle code, but who reads that, right ? Just so you know, no trucks left 2 lanes of 4 lanes same direction EVER .no matter if right 2 lanes are plugged up with slow pokes. Middle of 3 lanes same direction OK only to pass.

I did not know that and have been going there (CA) regularly for 3 years.Wondering if that "science" holds true for Sacramento with all the construction on E lanes on 80? I saw a sign sayin through traffic left 2 lanes and took one..
-
That's my point. California does this intentionally to help generate revenue because they know some drivers will pass in the left lanes not realizing they're not supposed to.

Fight it by mail, and your defense should be to avoid an accident as the vehicle was slowing down you past him on the left lane. Also provide some stopping distances for tractor trailers for the court.

You don't count closed lanes. And signs trump the statute:

Yeah there are places in Ca. where you exit left, like from the I-10 to the west 60 in Beaumont or to stay on the 134 west of Glendale going past I-5 then SR 170. Law says trucks can be in L.lane the previous mile before the merge.

Anon whats up man, got caught ha. I got a ticket for the same thing going over the grape vine. Passing yep, another four wheeler but he happened to be driving a big truck. He was hanging out in the hammer lane doing about 25hp. up the hill. A story in its self but their's a lawyer named Mark Bigger in Bakersfeild-http://www.bakersfieldtraffictickets.com/ that might be able to help you out. I looked him up at the last minute to take care of mine.He had it dropped to a non point log violation.
I know it's an easy way out to just pay the fine but you should try and fight it because I think that ticket carries some heavy point on it. If I remember, I think the officer told me it was 1 and a half.
But check it out either way your going to be be paying out a good amount of money unless the officer doesn't show and you get you case thrown out. In that case it would just be the attorney fees. witch can very well can happen. California's broke right now they actually had to close allot of court housed so officers haft to drive father to show up. Not saying there lazy but they are required to do a little more , and allot of times it's not in the comfort of there own city witch may just be enough to shy him off your
case.
Let me try this again http://www.bakersfieldtraffictickets.com/ . There you go, that's his sight, and good luck.
Let us know where you got the ticket at that will allow us to help you out a little better.Last edited: Jul 27, 2014

There's lawyers in southern CA who do nothing but fight big rig tickets. I got popped twice, and the lawyers fee was $600 each time. Both lawyers got the ticket dropped. Expensive, but my record is still clean.
full speed Thanks this.
