The only thing I've purchased from Diesel Boss was a so-called "reefer broom" he used to sell (and may still). Half the bristles were long and the other half short, with the idea being the long bristles would reach down into the floor troughs and thus sweep the entire floor instead of just the top level.

Knowing what I know now, I'd say the broom's unique bristle design was more marketing gimmick than anything else. It didn't sweep reefer floors any better than one of those ordinary brooms they sell at Pilots and TA's (for about half the price if you catch one on sale) and may actually have swept worse.

The reefer broom also had a fatal design flaw: the broom part was way too bulky and heavy for the thin and flimsy handle to manage. After very little use (three or four trailer sweeps at the most), I sent the broom a little too close to the trailer's wall with a little too much angle for it to survive the impact with the wall: to my great dismay, the handle snapped off at the base.

If I'd contacted the Diesel Boss about it maybe he'd have sent me a new broom at no charge, but I was so unimpressed with the broom, I just tossed both pieces into the trash, went out and got myself an ordinary truck stop broom.

This was way back around 2000 or 2001. The Boss and I had a pleasant chat over the phone when I ordered the broom. I was driving for Marten at the time and he too had once been a Bluebird.

By the way, my current trailer-tidying tool is one of those corded blowers they sell at Walmart. About the only time I ever use a broom anymore is to sweep up the debris left behind if I have to blow out the trailer in a place where its uncool to just leave the remains scattered all over the pavement.

Yes, in 2001 it would have had a free handle with the broom (bundled.) I agree that handle was not strong enough. Several years ago we switched to a virtually indestructible collapsing handle which costs us 3X the price as the original one. So now the handle is an option add-on. Plus the shipping is horrendous on a 4ft long box. Any standard broom handle (from Home Depot or whatever) will work though. Yes, we would have replaced it for you though.

Main Menu --> Truck Tools --> Warnings

Select how far away you want to be warned (or shut the warning off entirely) for the following:

    - Sharp curves
    - Steep grades
    - Engine brake prohibitive
    - Narrow roadways
    - 8 hours driving without a break
    - 11 hours driving in a day
    - 14 hours working in a day
    - 70 hours working in 8 days
    - State/Province borders
    - Time zones
    - Toll booths
    - Weigh stations
    - Construction areas

The last one says "Speed." Use that one to set how many miles over before it warns you, or to turn it off entirely.

We've fabricated just about every scenario on those over the years. Mounted, load-lock raising, windows raising, mirror brackets, magnetics, pole mounted. Even if you can't come out this way, conversations are free. At a minimum we'll have already done your idea in the past or we'll understand it within a minute of talking and can advise of the logistic hurdles of it.
