First - thanks all who mentioned us. We REALLY appreciate the endorsements from the drivers after 15 years of doing it without advertising in the main stream.

Second - here is a good way to look at basically ALL MOUNTING SITUATIONS:

A - what am I going to attach it to and how? (screw it / clamp it / suction cup it / cupholder it / hang it / attach to the floor / attach to a wall / hang from a bunk / magnet it / etc.)

B - how FAR away away is it? (this determines whether it is anything from a 2-inch arm or 2 feet away from whatever you are attaching it to.)

C - what is it? (We have used self-fabricated pieces in conjunction with Ram mounting systems parts to hang everything from cameras, to laptops, to phones and tabs, to 42+" televisions.) Almost anything can be mounted with the right combo of pieces.

I attached an example for the original poster of this thread for a 10" tablet. The picture is of my tablet in what is called an X-Grip large tab tray. This is a spring-loaded device for easy removal yet secure holding properties.

Since just about every situation is specific, I don't have most of the 300+ "pieces and parts" for creating mounts that are in stock here on the site (outside of the laptop situations.)

A note on Ram parts: VERY few things are made in the U.S.A. any more. Those that are, and that carry lifetime warranties, are built right and are not bargain-basement priced. Even their suction cups are extremely strong. After over 10 years with Jeff and the guys up at Ram in Seattle, I can tell you that they are worth it. I stay with them as my parts maker even though there are a 100 off-shore options we could choose from. For example, the Galaxy tab X-Grip plus arm and a suction cup show screwed to my wall in the second picture would run from $100 - $120 depending on how long of an arm and what kind of clamp or suction is needed.

A less-expensive option with a good name from our dealings with them is a brand called "Bracketron." Google search is your friend.

As one of the other folks said here, the best way is to either call us or message me with the "A, B, and C" - how to you want to attach it, how long of an arm, and what it is. If I can make it right, then we'll send a picture, description, and quote. If we don't make it, then we'll usually be able to at least point you at another reputable source.

Dieselboss, Don, whatever your friends call you, LOL, thanks for posting this as it is most helpful. Once again you are the go-to guy. I'll be in touch with you with specifics.

Incidentally I'm currently running Copilot version for cars just as a trial and it runs circles around the Dezl and Rand currently on board my truck with routing. When I abandon a suggested route from the GPS and choose another while rolling Copilot picks up on that, almost as if it knows what I'm thinking, and reconfigures the routing to match my intended plan. This, while my other devices will for ten minutes continue to try to redirect me back to their original plan. The drag and drop capability is great for flexibility and is quite useful.

In a previous post I mentioned US 24 out of Toledo that is not yet on the GPS devices (promised on the next map upgrade) already exists on Copilot maps.

Thanks again for your help on this and your other valuable contributions to the forum.

For those of you here who are following, or interested in installing a tablet in your truck, I decided to go with the Ram mount. Being shipped now from Dieselboss, I will be picking it up on my next home time in about ten days and will post pics here for you to see. Don there at Dieselboss made the decision making and ordering a snap, assembling and photographing the desired components for me, and sent measurements and suggestions. This removes any elements of doubt and eliminates any surprises when the package arrives. Can't wait to get this puppy mounted and start using the tablet . Many thanks Dieselboss, aka Don.

The RAM mount for the Samsung Tab2 tablet that I ordered from Dieselboss arrived and is now installed. I will attempt to post a couple of photos here. DIESELBOSS was very helpful with the ordering process, even sending photos of the assembly which removed any element of doubt as to how I might attach the mount. Thanks Don!

Is that more stable then it looks? Looks like it would be bouncing around like crazy on anything less then perfect roads.

I think I'd have push at least something like a Velcro table under where it rests against the dash.
