I have been off due to pinched nerve in neck since last September. Had caring doctors then all of a sudden sent to Concentra. The Concentra doctor( I think that is where they send the heartless docs) has said I just need to put the pain out of mind and has ordered to start the work hardening then if I don't pass that go to get evaluated or whatever he called it. Has anyone here ever been through work hardening for truck driving?

I understand about pinched nerves. Had a rough time for a few months. Didn't miss work because told the company I was fine. Too many obligations to miss work. Anyway, I bought a folding beach chair, not the kind you lay in, the kind you sit up in, like a regular chair. That's where I slept, sitting in that beach chair beside the bunk in the truck. That was a few years ago; haven't had to do that since. Had the doctor fooled, she was so surprised I wasn't off work for a long period. Only missed one day.

Some things you can work through, others you can't. I stepped between the truck and the dock at the beginning of a multi-stop shift that involved unloading 1200 individual cases of product by hand. The fall stopped when the side of my left knee caught on the edge of the trailer, and my left hip caught on the dock. I had to sit down for 5 minutes or so, and my leg turned black from my knee to my toes. Never missed any time from that.

On the other hand, I dropped into an unexpectedly large pot hole in PA which started a twinge in my neck that got worse over the course of the day. By the end of the day, I was having spasms every time I shifted or turned my head. Definitely not fit for duty. This was on a Friday. Went to the doc on Friday afternoon, got some Flexeril and rested. Took Monday off so I could go to the doc and got cleared for return to work on Tuesday.

You should be a comedian Snailexpress cause you are so funny...NOT.Anyways, I tried to get cleared to go back to work months ago but never could. I have dealt with the pain, it's like an ice pick constantly being stuck in my neck and radiates down my arm and could go numb at any time. Do you really want a driver out there shifting and the hand holding the steering wheel can't feel it anymore. Maybe you need to think before you type something stupid.

I've worked through a lot of pain through the years, I was just asking a question about the program.

Sounds very similar, early 1990 had to get a cervical fusion done. I had a piece of bone break off and pinch a nerve in my neck. Tried to work through it for 3 week's and many bottles of Advil to no avail. Was not getting enough sleep, I was becoming mindful that I could seriously hurt myself as well as those sharing the highway with me. My symptoms felt like a hot poker in my left arm. Don't put other lives in jeopardy, warning signs need to be respected.
