You obviously need to work for a company first , thats as nice as I can put it

 

That's probably the best move. Get on with one of the companies out here already doing what you want to do. Watch how things operate, pay attention to billing, etc and then look into a truck.

 

Frac what? Can you explain yourself?

 

I assume he means winch trucks hauling frac tanks

 

Didn't know owner ops hauled frac tanks around. That's why I wasn't for sure what he meant.

From what I can tell there are companies hiring O/O in texas forhauling sand and water...that would be where I would start

 

There are a lot of o/o's and small companies out here, but as has already been said the best thing to do would be to come out as a company driver first.

To learn where the best opportunities are, to get in some networking, to learn the area. That is going to be very important to you, in the long run taking baby step's out here will net you more in the end. You can go 50 to 100 miles out of your way if you don't know the area, which will cost you $$$ over the long haul if you keep doing it.

What's the best truck, gearing etc for what you want to do. You planning on sleeping in the semi? renting something? Buying your own trailer or just using there's. APU? what size inverter...etc

If your sleeping in your semi, what kind of things are best to have so you can live/eat/sleep.

There are companies out here that would hire your truck, no doubt about that. Thing is are they good companies?? Best way to know is ask, both here and where they are working at.
