Well, unloaded this morning and drove 95 miles up to Ogden only to be told that the piece I was picking up would not be ready till maybe Thursday. I was not very happy and when I got back to the truck, I had a call from the agent I get my radioactive loads from. Apparently they had 2 empty casks that needed to go to PA and wanted to know if I'd haul them out there for them. Of course she could t have called me 2 hours earlier when I was already sitting at the yard. So I go 95 miles back and get loaded. Now I'm sitting in Lake Point having dinner and then I'm gonna head on up the hill to Ft. Bridger. Be a slow easy ride across 80 this week. They want it delivered Friday but it's 2,150 miles and I do t feel like pushing hard this trip. Gonna call my site contact in the morning and see if I can deliver it Monday morning instead.

I once asked a guy at a military base why it seems as if noone knows what's going on. He told me they know, it's just part of their security protocol. I dunno if he was pulling my leg or if it's true. Kind of makes sense if they truly do know why you're there when you show up, but you don't have a clue where you're going. I asked some of my buddies in service and they just laughed and said nobody knows what's going on. Who knows.

I'll tell you from my experience, nobody knows anything about anything! We usually never knew what we were doing, Gunny or SSgt would just say we are going to patrol to here, we would ask what for and he would say who the F knows, that's what higher wants so that's what we will do. Usually everybody is lost in the sauce so to speak.

Nobody knows anything until you find an NCO.passingthru69 Thanks this.

That's kind of what I figured, and I think what the guy meant. Like whoever needs to know knows. But info is kept away from everybody else including you til u show up and they track down the person in the know.
I do like delivering and picking up at military bases though. Even though it can be time consuming I am always inspired by the professionalism and dedication of the young men and women serving this country.milskired Thanks this.
