Hey guys. I'm running as an independent contractor for a small time operator doing dry van in 48 states. I live in central Florida and I'd like to investigate the Intermodal stuff. I've done a lot of searching around here and I hear a lot from guys in other states but didn't see anything about the Tampa or Orlando areas. Anyone doing it along the I-4 corridor would be of great help here.
I already have a TWIC from a prior job and a secret security clearance. My first year of recent experience will be up in January and then I'm putting a truck of my own back on the road. Any advice or info that anyone can throw my way will be much appreciated. I've been looking at maybe just going LandStar to begin my Florida owner/op experience but I keep seeing this intermodal stuff going on every time I'm home for time off, and I thought I'd ask around here.
Thanks!
Who's doing Intermodal stuff near Tampa or Orlando, FL?

look at craigslist, there's companies hiring for a rail yard in Winter Haven or somewhere in Polk County.. I know about four months (maybe a little longer) ago two trucks started parking container trailers in the secure storage yard i park my trailer in off of US27 in Lake Wales.

There's another intermodal transport company, Gelt Triangle, who will be looking for O/O in the Jacksonville FL area and possibly in Tampa. I have a connect with those guys and the payout is nice. If you interested inbox me

FMX, Hub Group, DDI are some that come to mind, Orlando CSX ramp closed and is now out of Winter Haven. Titusville has a Norfolk Southern ramp and is not as busy as Winter Haven, can make good money, my father in law is in with DDI out of Titusville and is loving it.
