I am a Freight Broker at TQL - looking for conversation and dialogue

    I am a carrier, but I don't think that brokers owe us any explanation on how much they get paid. I wish we could ask, but it is like looking into someone's pocket. You never do it to your neighbor, do you? They have to pay for detention, if you were on time. But than, we are dealing with professional liars. So, I don't know. Maybe we should become broker+carriers, and than we'll be able to decide how good they were. But ofcourse when TQL says- I am not making any money = stripper saying: I am here because I enjoy your company.

    Why they than claim they are working on %?
    10% of money that shipper is paying...how we can know that broker didn't take another $600 beside those 12%.... its BS that this guy Bear is talking here ....he is just trying to get some reputation for his company (tql).
    All brokers are liers but TQL is the biggest one

    If ITS wasn't so worried about their 'load numbers', TQL would be the first broker to get the boot. Always using all of the negative stereotypical broker tricks.
    One thing is for sure, they didn't acquire that nice piece of real estate along I-275 in Cincy from 10%!

    another fun TQL game happening up here. Called about a load 2 days ago listed Willmar, MN - Canon City, CO. Was told that load was gone, but had "another" load from Watertown, SD - Canon City, CO. yah, I get it, trying to generate calls by listing from several cities within a 200 mile radius. Broker acted offended at my rate offer and said he books trucks at $2400 for this lane. I guess having a hard time finding that $2400 truck because load is still posted... from Watertown, from Willmar, and 11 other locations ! :) Oh, and my offer was quite reasonable at $3950, it is now $6200 in case there is interest !

    go ahead, call any one of these loads and I believe you will find it "just got booked", but "I have one left from Watertown, SD to ABOUT 15 miles west of Canon City, CO" with this brokers lack of respect and understanding of distances I know I would want a pickup and delivery address on the rate confirmation ! "about 15 miles west of Canon City, CO" could be Utah !

    What all brokers fail to understand.

    Getting to pickup cost money and time.
    Waiting to get loaded is free.
    Pumping fuel cost money and time.
    DOT 30 minuet break is free.
    Waiting to get it unloaded is free.
    Anything else along the way, stop and check load,tires, bathroom, lunch, is free.

    Load is delivered.
    Process paperwork is free.
    Make phone calls is free, book another load and repeat.

    Only getting paid from point A to B to move freight everything else is free or cost money.

    Oh they understand all right. They know.
    But as long as someone is willing to do it cheaper, they have no reason to care what it costs to operate a truck.

    I have delt with TQL a lot and most of the agents are pretty good. you just have to ask questions and get answers before you take the load as with anyone.

    I hated and never understood the term backhaul until I went to work for a carrier/shipper hybrid. For example, a manufacturing company that moves their own freight will consider outside freight backhauls. These companies are making all the money on the onbound leg to the customer of whatever it is they make. In that sense, the manufacturing company needs to get the trucks back to the yard in a timely manner in order to load more of their bread and butter, manufactured goods. Pure carriers get the short end of the deal as a 'backhauler' will run for less as it is not in the primary business of acting like a carrier. I need trucks back to the yard in a hurry, so therefore I can bid less than some primary carriers. Note I said CAN. I was once an owner operator, so I bid the same as any other carrier. Matter of fact I leave some money on street if its not what I need and come back empty. My primary goal is making sure our product customers are covered and happy. Backhauls are just gravy. Backhaul, simply means back to the yard.

    A pure carrier follows the money with no certain destination, at least that's how I ran my carrier business.

    Good on this TQL agent, well written. I did my first load ever as a owner operator with TQL many moons ago.

    Well despite everything I've heard about TQL here I've given them a chance several times only to be sent for a load of garbage when I specifically asked and made it clear I don't haul garbage in my trailer. Both times cost me money in fuel and wasted time. I've gotten to the point when I click on a load to get details and see TQL I move on. Too bad. They've got a lot of good loads even with the triple posting of them.
    If the OP is sincere, then prove it. If you're just here to salvage TQL's reputation, you're wasting your time.
