Harris Teeter is one of the better jobs around here...around here being the Piedmont of NC...High Point , Greensboro , Winston Salem. Raleigh /Garner has some great places also...GSF in Garner being a great place , I worked there for over 3o years til I retired in 2011 , this is a pretty labor intensive job , delivering food to McDonald's restaurants....great pay ...12 to 15 , 1600 a week once you get a regular route..even more if you want...BUT.....its work...Harris Teeter has a couple of warehouses , 1 in Greensboro , and 1 in the Charlotte area....great job too , had a friend that retired from there a year ago. after 37 years...lots of gas/fuel haulers too...one of the largest tank farms around is located right off I-40 in Greensboro....great area , to live too...

Thanks a lot Tonythetruckdude. That is all great info. My buddy just moved to the Charlotte area but I really have no idea where I was thinking of going. I knew that Teeter had a plant in Indian Trail but I also know that they just merged with Kroger so I do not know how that will affect things. I want to be home every night but my job now I usually have one overnight a week which really isn't bad. They do not give us sleepers they just put is in a hotel which is a plus. They pay by the mile and hourly when we are not driving. I'm delivering hardware now which is not that labor intensive because it is all palletized these days. I don't mind breaking down a skid at all. I read a thread on here about Teeter and it sounded exactly like my company. The bidding process and everything. Well, I have a lot to do and I can not move until I sell my house anyway so I will do a lot of searching. Thanks again.

    Tonythetruckerdude Thanks this.

Keep in touch. And if you want to try HT , let me know. I'll get you I touch with my pal, he might be able to get you an interview, you know it never hurts to have someone on the inside. Most really good jobs happen just that wAy.

I have already gotten so much positive feedback from this thread it is amazing. It's only my first one and there has been so much info on it for me. The only unknowns I have about HT is the pay scale, miles per week on average, start and end times, union or no and then finally are the benefits good. Tonythetruckerdude, if your friend has any of those answers that would be great. I know it is a lot and you have already answered so much already. I think I may be ready to fill out an application sooner than later. I have never had a problem getting a job I want but the older I get the harder it might be. lol Don't worry I'm in my early 30's still so I have plenty of time to go. I will have to take a weekend and fly down to check out the area. Again, thanks to all and I will keep in touch for sure.

    Tonythetruckerdude and Maineman Thank this.

Their schedule is a 24 hour one. Depending ont what route you run. They dispatch trucks around the clock. Before I retired the only day they didn't was Saturday. That as in 2011 , may have changed to a 24/7 operation.

Whereabouts, if you don't mind me asking? I used to live near I40/NC42 (Garner address, but it was in Johnston County... they always talked about making it its own little town of "Cleveland").
