    I have just this to say about automatic transmissions: I don't believe I would like one in a big truck.

    Now, having said that, I remember back in time:
    1964, I don't believe I'd like to have an automatic transmission in a car. . .
    1975, I don't believe I'd like to have an automatic transmission in a pickup. . .
    1985, I don't believe I'd like to have an automatic transmission in a 4X4. . .

    I now own an F250 Powerstroke 4X4 with an automatic transmission, and a Jeep Grand Cherokee with an automatic transmission, and a Freestar mini van with an automatic transmission.

    They're SLOW...
    I keep reaching for the shifter and it's not there.
    Today it took 15 minutes to figure out why it wouldn't shift into second from neutral.
    If it doesn't like they way you shift into gear, it gives this really annoying beep.

    The only two advantages I can see: The top of the shifter makes a good place to set my phone and it's easier to eat a sandwich while driving.
