Hello,
New to this forum and CB radios. I recently ordered a Cobra 29 WXNWST. I like this model because of the weather alert. Is this a decent radio.
I will be using it in our motorhome on vacation. As the motorhome is fiberglass I would like to mount the
Antenna to the side mirror. Problem mirror is plastic. Anyone else have this problem and what was the solution.
I also do not know what type of antenna I need. Looking forward to hearing any and all suggestions.
Thanks
29 wx nwst

My Gosh ,
This certainly is not a very sociable forum. Does anybody give advice
Sure could use some on the above subject -
Hello SPRINTERLIGHT,
The Cobra 29 is a very reliable and rugged CB, so you definitely made a good choice there. If your side mirror has an arm with which to clamp a CB mount then it could work. Most CB antennas use a 3/8"-24 tpi (thread per inch) mount and you can use a mirror mount similar to the standard mount used on road tractors.
If your mirror does not have mounting arm, then you will have to try other options.
My next option would be an on glass CB/WX antenna. Here's a cut and paste directly from Amazon. [h=1]Tram WSP1198 Glass Mount CB with Weather-Band Mobile Antenna[/h]http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/516e7Uo2KqL._SL1500_.jpg
For $19.00 it could work for you just fine. If you keep the antenna within 15 feet from your radio, your power losses will be less, and you should have decent results, especially if you will be monitoring most of the time. -
Or you might think of getting a firestick ngp kit. It comes with 18 feet of coax, and it is good quality.

Thanks for the advice. I think I'll steer clear of the glass mount. It's the easiest solution but I have heard nothing but bad about them.
Range is extremely poor. I have since ordered the 4 foot Firestik NGP kit. My idea is to glue the antenna to the side of the motorhome with some of 3m glue
I don't want to drill any holes if possible. I don't know if this will work but I was hoping to run the coaxial through the door opening and just shutting the door on the coaxial. I have an old cable I tried and it doesn't squash it. If not can I run the coaxial under the hood and through the motor compartment in the cab?
I guess this is a sociable forum!!! Thanks for the advice and hope to hear any other solutions you have to offer. -
Anybody jump in , I need all the help I can get!!!!!!!!!
