Thats alot of fluid to lose over a short time I would get the entire engine washed and recheck for leaks on your next trip. I wish i could be of more help but theres got to be a leak somewhere in that system.
MHC Thanks this. -
I had a issue like that. If you checked when engine was cold I could see a small leak, never when engine was hot. My truck got totaled before I had a chance to really address it. It was a leak right where the top fitting went into the water pump. The water pump was only about six months old. This was on a Detroit 60. I also noticed when I was pulling heaver loads I lost more coolant than when pulling lighter loads. My mechanic also wanted me to steam engine so he could check some seals.

Head gasket,,,fluid is going out the stack...
Try to get an oil sample too,,,and test for any traces of coolant.
if a leak is going dripping on hot parts,it won't show sny wet spots but it will leave telltale white deposits,,usually in small streaks...MHC Thanks this. -

If it were cracked head, could truck still run good? It runs good, but losing lots of fluid.

There is no need to start multiple threads asking the same thing all over the forum, I merged these together.

Injector tubes are a problem on series 60. Best bet would be to pressure test it could be a simple thing like a weak rad cap

If there is no leak and your engine oil level is not rising and turning milky then check your transmission fluid level. Maybe your tranny cooler went..... when mine did it was the opposite, tranny drained into coolant but it's worth checking.

I say Head Gasket too, common problem on Detroit Series 60 engines. You won't see the leak because it dries up on contact with the hot engine before it hits the ground.
