Install turbo, install oil return line, add oil into the turbo via the inlet, install inlet line, start the engine and let it idle, check for leaks. If no leaks then it is ready to go to work, no break in period for a turbo.

PTP has a great turbo blanket at a reasonable cost in the T6 housing size of the BW 171702. I have had one of these on mine since day one. Price has gone up a few bucks since I got mine two years ago, but still a darn good value considering the high quality construction.

I also use a ceramic coated exhaust manifold and Walker Megaflow mufflers on the stacks up the back.

171702 is airwerks, there's no difference.

You might pay a bit more ordering from western turbo, but you get a genuine borg warner with all the gaskets. No chinese knockoffs which is a problem with BW turbos off ebay. I believe I paid $862 for mine from western turbo.

It is a larger turbo so there simply will be more lag. It has a large exhaust side with no wastegate. For example in the upper range of the transmission you don't want to go below 1300 rpms. But it flows more freely and has higher HP potential.

I ordered it through western diesel in Brandon. Western turbo price was $1050 an western diesel in Brandon was $950. I'm hoping it's genuine borg warner. It should be.

Wow. Prices have sure gone up. I got my BW171702 for $650 delivered. Genuine BW and turbo gasket. 2 years ago. Just checked online with the same supplier. The price has gone up for sure, but it has been two years. They want $724.95 delivered. Based on what they sent me before at $650 delivered, it was indeed a genuine BW. All the official BW paperwork inside the package, everything.

I would assume western diesel isn't gonna sell knock offs but how can I tell for sure?

It should come in a BW box and should have a BW tag on it,

The exhaust wheel will have fluorescent green marker on it.

Right on, there will be paint marks on both wheels as this was used for balancing purposes I believe.
