I always leave a tip sometimes more then a buck when i cheerfully recieve good service or a extra towel
these people should be applauded for picking up after the pig that leaves his underwear in the mens room
or misses the toiletRaiderfanatic and Mudguppy Thank this. -
If the shower was clean and there wasn't a wait, then I'll leave a buck.
And anyone that doesn't tip a server at a restaurant, that's pretty worthless. Most places tips are part of the wages. I always tip 20% for a good server and ten if it was crappy service. I'm not tipping for the quality of food. I'm tipping for the quality of service. Keep the drinks full at the table and finished plates removed. They generally work their butts off, especially during busy hours.
Just because someone doesn't come out and pat you on the back for what you feel is a job well done, doesn't mean you need to be a jerk to those that make less money and need tips to compensate their pay. Just as someone said they didn't have to take that job, neither did you have to take your job.david123abc, Mudguppy, Lepton1 and 2 others Thank this. -
I've worked as a waiter before and my wife is an outstanding (and beautiful) waitress. As noted previously in this thread, , wait staff in many areas earn far less than minimum wage. In return they make the majority of their income from tips. Taxes are withheld not only on credit card tips, but also on cash tips. Many restaurants today pool all tips and divide equally among wait staff, with some going to bus boys or cooks. It's hard work and the tip is well deserved.
Since my own experience in the service industry I tip very well unless service is noticeably poor. I leave at least a dollar or two in the shower room or in a hotel room.
Want outstanding service at a crowded bar? Give a great tip when you order your first drink. Almost guaranteed to stand out from the crowd after that. When I played poker professionally I would stop at a busy bar for a particular glass of wine before heading to the poker room. It didn't matter how long the line was to place an order, as soon as the bartenders saw me my wine was poured and served without having to ask.
Pay it forward. Great movie and great attitude for driving a truck and life in general.Mudguppy, ncmickey, david123abc and 1 other person Thank this. -
I'm a serial tipper, especially when I get good service. I'll leave a dollar or two in the shower room for the attendant unless its not clean. Same as a well kept hotel room.
Raiderfanatic Thanks this. -
Let's try to keep this civil, folks.

With free showers, I leave a dollar on an average shower. Two dollars for excellent, clean shower rooms.
Raiderfanatic Thanks this. -
Well said. I've always thought that everyone should be made to try 2 jobs- wait staff and truck driving....That way everyone would know what it's like to work for (sometimes) nasty, rude people for tips, and everyone would know what it's like driving an 80,000lb+ hunk of steel around a bunch of nutbag 4-wheelers!
Maineman, Raiderfanatic and Lepton1 Thank this. -
I usually leave a tip after using the shower also. It is truly a thankless job cleaning up after people and I appreciate the clean facility. As a professional in an industry that is looked down on and treated like lower class by many, I find it hard to understand why some drivers will treat other folks the same way. I was a custodian for a time. I was virtually invisible to the people who worked in the building - they did not even acknowledge we existed. It was the only job I could get at the time and was thankful for it. Was it what I wanted to do? Nope. But it helped support my family. The person working a job may be there because that is all they can get. Not because they're a loser or slacker. That small tip may be the thanks they needed for a job well done.

Yeah that's kinda rude of them to do that. I'm sure they wanted you to hear and i doubt management would be pleased about it.
I usually leave a tip if i didn't have to wait for a shower, moreso if it's a busy time for showers, and depending on how clean it is. Showers can also be "rated" at the kiosk and the employees receive some kind of bonus from that also.
