Alright I will throw my two cents in as well. I am not sure where you will cross into Canada, but stick with the big road or also known as the Alcan. You can run Hwy 16 and 37 out of Prince George, but more services along the Alcan. It is about 90mls longer. If you take Hwy 29 out of Chetwynd you will have multiple 10% grades and sharp turns. Watch your speed and look out for bear, deer and moose.
Buying fuel can be tricky since a lot of places are card locks. We use a Pacific Pride card. A lot of fuel places are shut down in the evening or at night. You might me stuck with a credit card or some will take t-checks.

Prince George is about $4.70 per gallon and in Whitehorse it is about $5.70 per gallon for Diesel. You will need a permit for B.C. if it is not on your cab card. Also you need to show the cycle and starting mileage on your log for Canada. Two easy ways to get a ticket if not written down. Other places to fuel Dawson Creek, B.C. Fort Saint John, B.C. Fort Nelson, B.C. Watson Lake, YT Contact Creek Lodge, YT Whitehorse, YT Beavercreek, YT Tok, Ak.

When you get to the Yukon you will have to buy a trip permit and fuel permit. Loaded going North for both about $130.00. When you get to Alaska you will most likely get an inspection if the Tok scale is open and you will have to buy an Alaska permit for about $360.00. If you get a plate for truck and trailer they will refund the permit cost within a week. Truck is about $258.00 and trailer $20.00.

There are no truck stops on the way. Petropass in Prince George and Ft. Saint John have showers. Yukon Hotel has a shower in Teslin for free and the in Destruction Bay YT you can get a shower for $4.00. Fairbanks has the Tesoro Truck Stop and that place charges for showers even with a fill up and it is a dump.

Now to the road. Most places are two lane roads. Lots of 6% and 8% grades. Also you have to stop and log the brake checks and scales that you pass through. The road is all paved besides where they are working on it. It gets pretty rough after Burwash Landing YT all the way to Beavercreek YT. Add about an additional 2hrs for road construction right now due to single lane traffic. Watch out for rocks in the road around Muncho Lake, Toad River, Tetsa River lots of unstable cliffs that will cover the road with rock slides.

Watch out for wild life lots of bears, moose, caribou, wild horses, elk and bison. I am not mentioning the small critters that will run across the road since I take them on without much worry. Take special care between Liard River Hot Springs and Watson Lake where the bison herds are travelling up and down the road. You will not see them at night until the last second and their eyes do not light up like deer. The same counts for moose and caribou as well.

Break downs and road service are outrageous expensive. You can see labor rates close to $200.00 per hour. Be prepared and have a spare and tools to change your own tire if you have too. Have lots of odds and ends for truck and trailer.

Phone service is usually around the cities, but you are out of range between Ft. Nelson to Watson Lake about 300mls. You will loose service after Watson Lake and get some signal around Whitehorse and then nothing until Haines Junction. A couple of blips in D-Bay and Burwash and than again Beavercreek. Also make sure you turn your data off in Canada or you can end up with a $500.00+ phone bill.

Look at my thread if you have not done so. I run year round and you can see some of my struggles. http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...g-forum/241742-running-produce-to-alaska.html

    Have fun and good luck

Hey everybody. Finished the run and made it in pretty good time. I got stamped into Canadian customs in sweet grass Montana on the 29th and got stamped out in alcan Alaska on the 1st so I think that was pretty good for a first timer on that route. The scenery was unbelievable. The lakes and rivers up in Yukon and British Columbia blew my mind. Crystal clear water and ice cold. And as I was warned wildlife! Bison and bear on the road and along side and a few elk. I think I may haven taken 75 pics on the way up. Made it to Alaska and delivered at carlile in Fairbanks. Just missed Lisa lol but the yard supervisor brought me to his home and his wife cooked me a good down home southern meal let me wash clothes. Life is great! Headed to Palmdale California with a load so I'll go all the way through British Columbia this time. Thanks for all the tips!

    Love your pictures.

My wife and I are avid picture takers when out on the road. We snap anything from odd road signs to some of the most beautiful scenery that most 'normal' people never see. She has a nice Nikon and I have an older Canon, though oddly enough,.. I find myself snapping pics with my cell phone a lot when in a hurry.

I have an older Samsung S4. It takes pretty good pics when the lighting is good. But when the sun goes down forget it. My wife's Nikon takes the best low light pics.

    Cell phone pic.
