    Hello,
I'm a rookie driver who knows next to nothing about CBs, antennas, mounts, etc. Just under a year ago I picked up a Cobra 29LTD Classic and installed it in a 2013 Freightliner Cascadia. It seemed to work just fine for me. I'm a company driver and I'm in the Army National Guard. I had to turn the truck in when I went for my 2 week annual training. When I came back to work the company issued me a 2012 Peterbilt 386. The last driver must have taken the antennas and mounts from the mirrors because there aren't any. So I'm looking for info on what to buy (I'm thinking I only need antennas and mounts) and how to install them. I don't have a lot of money to spend but I don't want crappy equipment either. What ever you all think will work well with my CB. Thanks.

You need a mirror mount such as this:

    http://www.walmart.com/ip/Browning-BR-MM-18-Mirror-Mount-Kit-with-CB-Antenna-Coaxial-Cable/21188822

And you'll need a good whip style antenna such as this one:

    http://www.wilsonantenna.com/produc...mobile-cb-trucker-antenna-with-5-shaft-black/

Then you will need one of these to tune the antenna:

    http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2036239

It's super easy to do. Read the directions and ask questions if you have them. A few of us here know our stuff.

You know there may be somebody on here who lives in the OP's area and would offer to help him out........Why don't people post where they are from.....you don't have to give a specific address.

To the OP: I almost agree with Turbo-T. :) Different antennas work better on different trucks. Try to find out what others are using successfully on that model of truck. No use you doing all the R&D when others have already "been there and done that". The Wilson is a good antenna, I own about a half dozen of them. But I use a top loaded fiberglass antenna on the Cascadias that I drive. Currently I use a a 7ft SkipShooter mounted down low on a mount like the picture below. That is the antenna that works the best that I have tried on that particular truck.....including the Wilson and the Monkey Made and several others.

While not specifically replying to the original poster, MadMatt, maybe someone else will find this suggestion of interest. If you really do not know anything about cb radio and would like to learn the basics, you can search the internet for books about cb radio. Almost all of these books are long out of print but the basics of cb radio really have not changed since the 1960's. Purchasing used books are quite cheap and have the information that gives you the basics.
Here is a search for a book entitled "The Big Dummies Guide to CB Radio". While I dislike the title, the information is in an easy to read format. Obviously there are other books that you may be interested in.
