No disrespect to pattyj; just I don't think an absolute globalization of recruiters can be stated here. I've worked with a recruiter for a company in the ND oil field who doesn't make commissions. He's salaried and goes home with the same paycheck regardless of his efforts. I know that because I made sure that was the case before I started working with him. That's mainly because what pattyj stated can absolutely be aimed at recruiters who work for commissions and/or quotas; both are bad deals!!
I completely agree about shopping around. To start you must know yourself and the needs/wants of you and your family. Then align those items with the transportation industrial lingo. Now, you can start comparing apples to apples instead of just throwing darts at a tree and hoping you hit a good apple; or orange if you live in Florida. LMBO! -
Megas don't have the personal touch and have low pay, but boy do they tend to have the freight.
Smaller companies are more personal and may pay more per mile, but freight can be hit or miss at times (which affects your pay & ability to get home.)
You seem to be a pretty intelligent fella, so I'll leave it up to you to pick the company size that best suits your needs.
