How about buying the new rig, and getting a brand new CDL holder out of a driver mill to run it on the cheap. Send the driver off to an east coast auction to p/u 10 high end vehicles. I'd love to see the end result...

I like the way you think. Expand your business.
Call car hauling companies hiring and ask how much they'll pay you with 5 years experience. Then offer your drivers a dime more so he will value and care for your equipment.
    Good luck.

    Thanks everyone for your encouragement….
I am looking for an answer to a simple question; what do I need to offer to be competitive? I am not looking at screwing over a driver or any of the other motives you have suggested. As I am sure all of you know, there is a shortage of good drivers so we are in a tight spot when there are 20 cars sitting at auction, but no company can even get to them for 5 days. That is lost sales. I don't want a "noob", I want experience, even if I have to pay for it.
Thanks Lucar for your post, it's the most direction I have gotten of the board. Any other insights?

Don't worry I got the same response from some truckers when I came here seeking advice.

They just hate on you for no apparent reason rather than give useful advise.

Sorry I can't help though since I am not in the car hauling but like kw550cat said pay by percentage it will make it easier to get a good driver. I hired a driver for a dry van and I am paying him 40 percent.

The hard part is finding a good driver that will work with no benefits most good drivers with such good attributes either work for a good company or they are owner operators. Keep ur hands crossed and hope u get a good one.

Good luck in ur new endeavors.

Most guys average about 80 to 90 cents per mile if they are with a big company. Small company guys do a little better.
