And then we have somebody on that thread wanting to know if the fire truck had its emergency lights on. Intimating that if it did not, then it was OK to hit it? I dunno. Kinda pisses me off, that attitude.

Another night out, sitting at a pilot in Indy, I've seen at least 20 drivers head over to the bar, as much as I love to drink.......nope going to sleep.

At the Space Age Travel Plaza in Hermiston, OR.

Got a call this morning from dispatch wondering why I wasn't rolling from Springville, UT after stopping at 3pm. I told them since I had a Friday 7am delivery in Portland, OR, I wasn't in any particular hurry.

Long story short they had given me the wrong date. I was due to drop Thursday and reload in Yakima to come back to El Paso. Luckily I was in a position where I could leave and still make delivery in Portland Thursday morning. It's a FCFS customer anyways.

I just assumed that there was a reason it was scheduled for Friday.

    Yes... I read that...
You know... I see how some day cab trucks drive, specially at night... :biggrin_2554: they fly, they tailgate, they drive like crazy... :biggrin_2552: I wonder if that was the case when this accident happened... Unfortunately that attitude is becoming more and more frequent...

Didn't seem to be bad while I was there. Granted this is only the second time I've stopped there.

you can only get out going wrong way out the scale

There was a real bad one Sunday night just before midnight on I-81 at about mm 25 in PA. Had the freeway closed for about 8 hours I think. Surprised it didn't make the accident section. Traffic was stopped due to wreckers clearing a semi-truck from the median, disabled from a crash earlier at around 1400. Driver that didn't make it was the one that came up the rear and didn't stop behind two more big trucks. His and the one he hit burned. Authorities found the dead guy's dog a day later, it had somehow escaped injured badly enough to have a hind leg amputated. If it weren't for the two semis in front of him, there would have been a lot more fatalities.

Coincidentally, my son and I both caught this one coming from opposite directions. I came up on it SB around 0130 and the police had already set up the detour over to US-11. Forced exit at the 29 and back on at the 20. He caught it worse. He was NB and came up right after it happened. He could see the fire. He ended up sitting for a couple hours and was finally able to back a little more than a mile to take the detour at the 24 exit.

Seems to be a lot of these recently, where people crash into stopped traffic.
