The inverter works as follows according to the mechanic at Appleton: You have 2 hours to use the unit before it shuts down for 10 hrs. It works as follows, If you run say a microwave for 15 mins then unplug it from the in unit you will have 1 hr 45 mins left, then you run something for 1 hr that night. You now have 45 mins left to use it. Once you use that you have to wait 10 hrs. He said the best way to do it is use 1 hr in the morning and 1 hr at night and let it reset while you sleep or have it reset while you drive. It is 1200 watts and still runs the same even if you take it out. You get all the connectors and wiring along with the unit when you buy it.

    I hate that.

I'm trying to work 60-90 days OTR with Roehl, but it sounds like it may not happen.
Recruiter told me there were APU's on every truck.

Is there a workaround for the inverter?
I know Roehl wont like it. But, come on.
That seems like a #### policy.

Here's some advice from a trainer. Stop trying to cheat and work around the things that the company offers. All you're going to do is get yourself into a jam. Do I like the inverter policy? No, but it hasn't hampered me from eating or using it for what I need it for. Get your experience, do it the right way, then move on to a company that will give you APU's and inverters you can leave on 24/7 if that's what you're looking for.

Are you telling me to move on to a different company? I was told I could get OTR for 60-90 days at a time with Roehl and be comfortable..
Is that not actually going to happen?

You can stay out for however long you like. You don't need an inverter to make it that long. You can do everything off a 300 watt plug in model. Stop trying to figure out how to cheat the system or its going to hurt you badly.

Sorry if it sounded like I was trying to break any rules. I'm not interested in breaking the rules. I was honestly asking if there was a legit workaround. Nice to hear that they will let you use the plug in inverters. Didn't read that before.
    Thanks for the feedback, everyone.

Not telling you to move on at all. Just telling you that the first questions you shouldn't be asking are how to rig the trucks and get around policies. Roehl is an excellent company to start out with, but they expect you to follow rules and policies. Many people don't like this about Roehl, but they're a solid company and they keep an eye on things. And yes they do let you plug in small inverters to the 12v plugs. Those will operate most everything you need except a microwave. Good luck, and let us know if you have any other questions.
