I am with Werner... you realize werner has several other options for you... I am on a dedicated and home every night and weekends..

There is no need for you to be out there at your wits ends and thinking of abandoning your truck and tossing everythig away...

You dont have to go through your dispatcner... you can call driver resourses or safety...

I called safety once wnen I was new and stressing... they routed me home right away...

Even if you are not going to stay with werner.. use the driver resources to get you home or to a terminal to turn hour truck....

The phone numbers to driver safety or driver resourses is on tne back of your werner ID

Don't abandon the tractor. Tell werner this isn't working out for you and they will route you back to your home terminal. You can still get work at a different company afterwards. If you abandon the truck you can kiss any type of trucking job goodbye and any potential employer outside of trucking that finds out about this won't hire you.

gps, download copilot. it's a full fledged map downloaded to your phone. no internet required. last i checked the car version was $7. just remember it's only a car. so pay attention to streets that you might not belong on.

i paid for the truck version over 3 years ago. it's never steered me wrong. SO FAR. haven't been to every town in the country.

cigarettes, i by the cartons in cheap states. nevada and idaho are around $50 or less. i paid 48 for the last carton in nampa, id. they're up to $90 in my home state. new york is probably over $100 these days.

by food you might like to eat on the fly from walmart. i buy cans of boyardee and chili or whatever, fruit, pudding. cereal. etc. i have a fridge, but it's full of milk and sodas. you can buy plates, bowls, plastic forks and spoons.

if you want to cook once in awhile. i bought a one burner propane stove from walmart. it's just a burner that screws onto the small propane bottle. comes with a plastic ring for a stand so the stove actually stands up.

you gots to use your brain and be creative when it comes to money. it's EXPENSIVE out here.

 

When I was OTR with Schneider I told them I quit when I was on the road and they planned me a load which took me back to Carlisle where I cleared all of my stuff out and went home. From What I've heard Werner does the same.

 

Save it. You two are in opposite ends of the spectrum at Werner.

There are two girls that took jobs as waitresses at the same restaurant. Not the ideal career, but one of the girls is making the most of her time in the restaurant biz. She's friendly to the customers, listens, prompt and loyal...qualities one needs to have even if she is working at a greasy spoon.

The other girl complains to customers about her boss, about how her feet hurt, about her pay and lack of tips, about her customers, about the people she works with. Now, she is thinking about walking out the door, not finishing her shift, leaving her customers unattended, and the people working with her in a bind. Definitely model employee material.

 

And the first girl is probably pretty and gets flirted with allot therefore bigger tips.

well, as the second one is fat, not that attractive, and has nothing better to do than to complain her feet her and how the customers are.

so what you basically saying is op is the ugly waitress and your the pretty one I take it?

 

Alright these two comments are BS. 1. $400.00 a week gross working 70hrs a week is a BS. That boils down to $5.72 an hour. That's not factoring in him being gone from home the whole week just how many hours he did work or at least could have worked. If you factor in the whole 7 days it comes to $2.38 per hour. That's what someone would make in the devloping world not in the developed world. You can talk about putting your time in but that pay is pathetic...and people wonder why half the people in the US with CDLs don't drive truck.

The second comment is right on the money about OTR. It is no life. You look at the people who do OTR driving for 20 years and you'll find quite a few of them have something wrong with them mentally. People seriously wonder why no one wants to do long haul trucking anymore only need to ask former OTR drivers why they got out of it. The reason is simple...it sucks.
