A friend of mine talked to a clerk at a quickie mart that drove for 5 months and quit because his girl friend didn't like him being gone so much. He quit for her then some time after he quit she dumped him anyway. Now he wants to get back into trucking but says no one will take him because he quit before he completed a year.

Two girls, equally attractive working in the same restaurant. One is attentive to her customers and the other is self absorbed. Which one will make more money....that is why they took the job, right?
Waitresses make on average $2.16/hour. They hire on with the understanding that they will need the tips to have a paycheck. A good waitress at a good restaurant will do well over a grand a week in tips. But she has to have a pleasant personality and take care of the customer. But if she's texting when she should be filling coffee cups, and wiping down tables, guess what? Is it easy work? Absolutely not. But you would think that they would know that before filling out the job app, right?
It seems as if there are quite a few people that go to school for their CDL, hire on with a company, and then bellyache when they find out that they actually are expected to put the miles down in order to make money.
Your family wishes you would have figured that out before you went to school.
Same restaurant, yet one girl makes 4x more than the girl whining about her feet.
Yeah, everyone knows that Werner is a crappy place to work. I would bet money that the average driver at Werner makes more than $400/week. Average driver, not the top driver. Waitaminute...what does it mean if you are working for the bottom of the barrel mega carrier and making less than than the company average?
There are 5 waitresses that work at The Greasy Spoon, same time of day, same hours. The average waitress there makes $200. The top waitress makes $350-400/week in tips. The bottom girl made $100. Why does the top girl make so much?
Yeah, the drivers on top have the same rules to play by, same truck...etc. but they have to be doing something illegal, right? The slacker never admits to slacking, does he? -
The who point to burning a bridge is so one will move forward from that point on. Abandon the truck, honestly I could care less, and if you had 6 mths of solo I would hire you. But when one leaves a company it's to move forward and not look back. Seem pretty stupid to me to quit a BFC company then 6-7 months down the road return to them.
no pay, low pay, long time away from home, if I was there that truck would be left under a tree somewhere it would take em a week to find it. -
I would have to disagree with you there, I pulled my dac from hire right, and jobs that I started with over 11 years ago are not listed so how would one account for that. Employers are suppose to have 10 years employment so only part he may be wrong on is the 7 years. As my first 3 years isn't on the dacMilkman719 Thanks this. -

Bs, bs, he needs to go back to school. And minimum one needs is 6 months otr. And I could tell you if he knew the right people he could be driving today without even going back to retraining. -
We all worried about that when we were new. The first 6 months of trucking are the toughest. Stick it out! It gets easier and you'll learn ways to make more money. Hang in there. You don't want to go back to WalMart.BrenYoda883 Thanks this.
