The dream of being an o/o does not begin with "lease purchase". That's how nightmares begin.

I don't understand why you stay, if I read this right. There are many other companies. I think it sounds like it is time to try somebody else.

Hey guys, recruiter for GW Dedicated here, please understand that we do not sell you the truck. We use 3rd party companies that sell you the truck. We just facilitate the payment for you and help with the down payment. Whatever happens between you and the financers/ dealers is between you and them just like it would be if you bought a truck without our help. We have steered away from the company that you probably bought the truck through because of these types of incidents. Unfortunately, we don't know until it happens and then it's too late for those that got burned. As for the business that you feel like you got burned on, the only thing I can say is that we wouldn't have hundreds of owner ops doing it and that have been with us for years and years if it went this way for everyone. I'm very sorry you got burned, I don't know your situation but please remember that every trucking company out there has drivers that are disgruntled. I wish it could go perfect for everyone but it just doesn't. Good luck in your future endeavors. I hope it gets better for you, sincerely.

yea this is true they broker most of their loads, they do have some direct customers, stay away from truckload management, I ran for ATF American trans freight,
for 2 yrs out of gary, IN this mostly intermodal (Chicago terminals) @ 75% & 89% of fsc, wkly $950 - 2000 this agent done a fair job finding high paying loads
also ran flats for dallas mavis for awhile, had to watch settlements carefully, ATF was the better of the bunch.

God I wish I saw this when it was fresh. But here is a prime example of stupid people leasing trucks. Yup. Stupid. Nobody opens a business with nothing. You have to have back up money. How's he gonna feed his kids? That's his problem. That he should have thought of BEFORE this happened.

OK. lets review…….you "lease" a truck from a trucking company whose main business is transportation. Then you let them have complete control with your loads, as in, how and when to dispatch you. Then you let them do all the bookkeeping and divvy up the moneys as they see fit. You let them have control of where you get service/repairs, you cannot change the lettering on the side, they decide how to pay you and when. Do you see a problem here ?

You're free to get your own authority and do all of that on your own. If you don't want to do all of that on your own and go through the hassle of getting your own authority, then yes... you will compromise with whatever company you decide to enter into a partnership with. That's what you are when you become an owner operator, a partner and everywhere partnership has give and take.
