Cat 10r7172....do they exist anymore?

getting my ducks in a row to do another overhaul on an acert.I have called several places to try to get a hold of a set, and these things are getting hard to find. Midwest said they haven't had any for a while, Kenworth, peterbilt both say its not in there system and cant get it. the CAT house says those are severly back ordered and around 650 a pack and possibly a month or 2 to get a hold of. I'm now reconsidering my Acert plan. Looks like an E model is gonna be the more economical way to get it done now. what y'all think?

this may be a stupid queston, but if anyone is using the 248-5516 IPD pistons, what rings are you putting in with it? cat or IPD? just curious.

 

Thanks for that info. I hadn't investigated that far into it. hate to ask, but is there a way to get the part number for the piston and also do we have change the piston oiler nozzles to accommodate? I appreciate all the info sir.

 

From what I have came up with, is the 3466616 16:1 piston uses the 2791152 oil jet, the 2485516 17:1 uses the 2764637 oil jet. one thing I haven't checked yet is if one of those numbers superseded the other as far as cross reference.
