I was wondering what there are for fridges out there. Ive been looking at 12v fridges online, but they're pricey....$400+. I already have a mini fridge from college, but the company I drive for doesn't allow inverters. I do have a little 300W plug in inverter, but I don't think this could run a mini fridge. What options do I have? And I want a real fridge, not a thermoelectric cooler. Thanks for the help.
Fridge?

I HAVE A COLEMAN I PAID 89$ FOR. IT IS A "NEW" VERSION AND THE CORD/PLUG SEEMS TO STAY ALOT COOLER THAN MY FIRST ONE THAT LASTED 8 MONTHS. IT WORKS VERY WELL. -
There is a 400 watt lighter plug in inverter that could handle the load easily. I can't remember the brand name though. Although I think it would eventually kill your fridge.
I use one in my truck for my laptop...it chokes a 300 watt every time.
It's anodized blue in color and comes with a set of direct battery jumpers and lighter adapter.
Just check a few fridges out for wattage draw and amperage pull. A typical dorm style fridge needs 3-5 amps. -
we aren't supposed to have inverters either, but MOST drivers here do. i paid 40 bucks for a cobra 800 watt cont. the clamps i connect right behind the glove comp. on a pos. post supplying the dash etc and ground on the frame.

Ya, the 300w I got powers my laptop and cellphone just fine. Thats about all i use it for. I don't like using car chargers for cell phones because if your not careful you will greatly decrease battery life. So i just use the wall charger so I don't have to worry about it. It looks to me that I'm gonna have to spend the bucks on this on. I just didn't know if there was such a thing as a $200 or less 12v fridge. $400 just seems like a lot, but I'm sure it will be well spent if it comes to that.

It will last longer and make less noise.
Be sure to ask your companies policy about it first. I worked for another company that told a driver the fridge would have to remain with the truck. If he swapped. Which is BS in my opinion and wouldn't happen. -
8 years ago I bought an used Coleman, dont know how old it was before bought it, but just this morning it finally "gave up the ghost". I was at a Wilco and marched myself inside and bought a new Coleman for $89.00 plus tax. If this new lasts as long as the old one did, I will be very happy.

We got one of those Coleman 12 volt one for under 100 and it sucks, big time. It might be the fuse in this particular one was bad originally but it melted into the plastic casing of the plug and I can't get it out to replace it.
Am now in the market for something else that won't be a first hazard. Returning this one to the store and getting my money back. (posted a thread about this "p.o.s. cooler")
