Whoever says Epes is a "starter" company, doesn't know what they are talking about. Period. Epes is far far better than most trucking companies (my opinion) and I say that based on the number of high tenured drivers that work here. They do have regional accounts, I have a friend she just does slip seat day cab, home every day kinda stuff in Bowling Green, Kentucky. I don't know what is available in NC, you'd have to ask recruiting. If you live outside of a 30 mile radius from one of our yards, yes you can take the truck home. Many of us take ours home. And they have 10 speeds and automatics. Most, if not all, of the new 2015's they have are automatics.

How long is training with a trainer
-
I left epes about 6 weeks ago. Still say they are better then most companies. I had one dispatcher that loved to mess with certain drivers. Was sure I was going to retire there. But I got to a point that I had had my fill. She is still sending messages through the grapevine to get a rise out of me. Sad! She misses one of her fav toys.
Talked over some of the issues a year ago , and things did not change. Another company , in a different segment , has been after me to change over for 4 years. Leaving was hard choice. But was the correct choice for me. -
Depends on how much experience you have. If you're new, it's going to be 5 weeks with a trainer.

Bman thank you for your reply on Epes.

infoplease, what did I do?????

Where do you take your physical in greensboro nc and what does it consist of...
-
they have a wellness center down the street form the terminal and do it in-house. basic DOT, no lifting or agility or anything like that. they do test for sleep apnea and if you fall into that group will be required to do the cpap
-
What is sleep apnea test never did that before
-
A sleep disorder where you momentarily stop breathing during sleep. They base it solely on your BMI. If you're a big person you'll probably have to undergo testing. If you're average/skinny you've got nothing to worry about.
Other companies go further and do 'questionnaires' with leading questions designed to provoke an answer that would trigger testing like 'do you snore?' or the like...on some level it's just a money grab because you, not the company, pays for the sleep test and cpap and niether is cheap.....not sure epe's policy on it because I didn't need it but maybe one of the other guys who were/are in that group can answer for you specific to Epes..... but at least at my last physical there in June they were still only going strictly on your BMI number
