When I started as a rookie with no experience I averaged 2200 to 2500. Now as a rookie with 8 months experience I average 3200 to 3500.
I also hear guys at terminals complaining about lack of miles. All I can suggest is run that clock. I drive about 10:45 on my clock, pull off anywhere I think I can legally park, and then wake up the next morning and stop at the nearest truck stop I can take a shower. I average about 1500 mile loads. I noticed I started getting these longer loads when I started driving until I had to stop. I think the computer software for load planning looks for drivers who do that. Also very little sitting around. Always moving.
Anyone else noticed since these "changes" went into affect that the loads are not nearly as tight? From when I got hired until recent it seemed that all loads were scheduled at 60 mph.

I think you are right that the schedules on the loads seem to be more realistic.
I've also noticed that as I've started to really push the clock in the last year that I'm getting longer loads than I did when I first started. However, that may be more a function of seniority and rating. Currently I'm platinum, so that may have something to do with it. -
Any solid updates on the pay and hometime changes reportedly happening at Swift?

I put in an application with Swift. I spoke with a recruiter yesterday. She offered me 43.5 cents per mile for trips over 500mi for my experience level. If I get approved I may very well be going to work for them. I drove for Swift back in 2001-2002. I did dedicated Target in Madison, AL before they lost the account. I drove the yard truck mostly backing trailers all day. I would take short trips for them when not working the yard. I had no problem with them. I left for better pay. I may be going back...

Good for you on the platinum 😉, I have a little experience and right now am waiting in orientation. I took road test but do not know anything yet and it is making me nervous, but they say they are running behind. If all goes well, I plan on using all my hours as it just makes sense if you are not going to be at home you might as well. Any tips are welcome.

If you're at Lancaster, I can understand why they're behind. I've never seen an orientation class packed like that.

And every one of them got in front of me in the food line yesterday!

Heh, I had to go to Houston for a doctor visit yesterday. I missed all of that.

Yeah, sorry, the instructor was rushing us to get back to class. They were already supposed to be set up to serve and they were an hour late, but the main reason we are behind is because some people in the class have no respect for the instructor when she is talking and keep leaving the room. I feel so bad for her, if it was me I would have told them to get to packing if they want to play.
