Looks like I'm about 90% sure My wife and I will be going with Conway TL. We're in Tennessee Truck Driving school at the moment and we should be graduating on the 22nd of August and orientation for conway will be the 25 th. I've found this website a tremendous resource. So I'm hoping to pass on the Love to anyone else out there researching companies.

I'm going to attempt to keep you informed along the way. After this post I'm going to paste a copy of my orientation email. I hope you enjoy!

You will need to bring with you: Two forms of ID - your CDL (not cut or altered in any way), Social Security Card, Birth Certificate or Passport. Medical Card, a Voided Check if you want direct deposit, your Certificates for school. Bring your bedding for the truck (a blanket or sleeping bag and a pillow), and clothes for about 7-10 days. If you have any dependents you are signing up on insurance you will need copies of their social security cards and birth certificates and a copy of your marriage certificate if you are signing up your spouse.
You will arrive in Joplin on Sunday and call AAA Taxi 417-624-8294, just tell them you are here for orientation and have them take you to the Holiday Inn at 3615 S Range Line Road. It will cost about $15, do not tip them and we will reimburse you when you are here for orientation, make sure you get a receipt. You will stay there on Sunday night only and the Con-Way shuttle will pick you up Monday morning. Be ready by 6:15am and bring all of your things with you because you will only be staying there the one night. The rest of the week you will be staying at the Boonslick Lodge in Neosho, MO.
Orientation will consist of an agility test, road test, backing test, drug screen (urine and hair follicle), physical, and all of our company policies and procedures. You will be given $100 the first day of orientation and another $300 for successful completion on the day you go out with your trainer.

    Important Information:

Try not to eat a large breakfast, drink caffeine, or smoke on Monday morning as this may cause your blood pressure and heart rate to rise and could cause artificial readings during the agility test or physical.

After you upgrade to your own truck you will have a Drive Cam installed for your first 4-6 months. The camera will only record if an event is triggered (hard brake or collision), the camera DOES NOT record all the time, and no one has the ability to access the camera in your truck at will. The purpose of this is to help us coach our new drivers after upgrade and help you become the best, safest driver you can be. If you have more questions about this please let me know and if I cannot answer your questions I will get you with our training department.

We ask that you please refrain from drinking alcohol while you are in orientation and with your trainer even during down time, it is important that you are at 100% during your training as you have a lot to learn in a short time.

Once you are assigned your truck there will be equipment assigned to you (nail bar, broom, padlock, straps, chains). This is a deposit of 325.00 and can be deducted from 10 pay periods.

Good momentous and good resource on what's happening to them for comparison. Trainer styles "good" terminal directions etc...

I'm the last one out of a group of 15 but still stay in contact with a couple of them.

    Its a nice resource.

Good luck Navy. I'd also recommend bringing a copy of your work history and the contact info for references. They check you background once you show up to orientation... Glad to see they are doing hair follicle testing now.

That reminds me -- they never returned that deposit to me -- I'll have to call tomorrow

    Hey Navy,

So glad that you started this thread. My wife and I started CDL classes last Saturday. Con-Way TL is #1 on our list. I've read all of the older Con-Way orientation threads and very anxious to see what (if anything) has changed. We are hoping to start at Con-Way in mid-October. Thanks in advance for the updates, good luck, and Roll On....

No prob putter! Hope it helps. I know for me it helps just to have the info especially from someone going through it. Were excited as well! She (Keturah) told me as of today after training we will receive .46 CPM instead of .45 ...So I'll take any increase I can get. Then once we get hazmat that's a .03 CPM on top of that, and an annual 1.5 CPM productivity bonus at the end of the year
