It made absolutely no difference in my experience of getting my CDL and then getting hired by my first company.

Agreed. Same experience here. I mentioned PTDI to a recruiter. They had no clue what I was talking about.Alaska76 Thanks this.

Interesting, perhaps the only ones to benefit then, is the school that touts it. Was the training manual PTDI endorsed, Delmar's Tractor-Trailer Truck Driver Training manual?
-
When I first began my search, I kept seeing the whole PTDI thing pop up here and there.
Then I found this forum and I have seen the following quoted numerous times, actually too many times to count, regarding school.
After you get a CDL and start working, Nobody cares where you went to school to get your CDL, all they care about is that you are safe, reliable, and fit their needs.
**I havent started cdl school yet, but in my previous profession, the same held true, nobody cared where I went to school, they just wanted to know if I had the ability to do the job.** -
i i had a dollar for every time i've seen this question asked, without stating a region/area/state. i'd have enough to open a trucking school.....

A lot of LTL companies like Fedex, New England Motor Freight, Old Dominion, etc. will train you to drive truck and help you get your CDL if you work for them on the dock and are interested in being a driver. That is one route that is open to you. As far as local jobs go I would need to know where at in PA you live. I live outside of Harrisburg PA and I can tell you there are a ton of driving jobs where you are in a daycab getting home everynight.Chinatown Thanks this.

Couple of months ago Old Dominion was trying to recruit 100 drivers from CDL schools. It's looking better for those wanting local or LTL jobs. You know it's looking good when ABF, YRC, UPS Freight are hiring new CDL grads.

I live in Harrisburg PA area. What companies around here, that are good companies, will hire for daycab home every night? Thanks.

[QUOTin ="Buckshot7991, post: 4185508, member: 150543"]I don't have a cdl but would really like to get one. I am hoping to find a company that I can work for where it is either local or I could be home every weekend and that would hire me beings that I don't have any OTR experience. Does such a company exist? If so, name, number, address??? Thank you![/QUOTE]
