Im curious to no if anybody have had lasik done. And still driving. Its either get this done or get stuck with glasses on my med card. I barely passed the nurse kept on fussing at me to get back in box. They give me my card by grace of god I was on line 8 and had difficulty reading it. Now I find myself squinting when I have to drive at night with headache following. So I dodge driving at night like a plague. I went to doc monday they say I got stigmatizem in right eye and im near sighted. I would have to drive in glasses. For my prescription its gone cost 1400 per eye and I want have to wear glasses to drive. I set surgery for oct home time. They say I can return to work the next day. Has anybody had this done? My med card expires dec 16 2014 I got to do something or I fear I want pass for next card
has anybody had lasik before!!!

I'm sensing a major case of vanity here for you to pay $2800 to avoid wearing glasses.
Semi Crazy and Lucar Thank this. -
Glasses are a pain. Small price to pay for that freedom.
flood Thanks this. -
Im not vain Im just terrible with keeping up with stuff I don't carry cash caz I loose it. If I dont put thing's in same place I can't find it next time been like this since I was little. My fear is I get glasses and loose them get stopped and get ticket

You can get Contacts or order two pairs of glasses, keeping one as a spare. I know there's millions of people who have had successful LASIK Surgery done but there's always the chance of a screw up. In some cases some people still had to wear Correctives in addition to LASIK. Good luck in whatever you decide.

OP i havebeen wearing glasses for over 30 years. had no problems getting my med card. full 2 years.

Get glasses, get a leash and attach it to the glasses so that they hang around your neck when not on your face. Real easy to keep track of them then.

I had it done in 1999 & it was the best thing I ever spent money on. 20/20 vision. Whole thing took 5 minutes. Very simple. My whole family got it done.
Glasses, contacts, etc are a waste of money if a procedure like lasik is a permanent option.
Over the course of her life she would spend well over the cost of lasik getting replacement glasses and contacts. Its not vanity....it's good business sense.
In 1999 I paid $2,000 to get it done. My dad in 2004 paid $1,300. The cost keeps going down....so why shouldn't she take advantage of that ?
Wingnut1, my wife wants you to know that if you knew anything about females and trends then you would know glasses are in right now to the point that people don't that need it will even wear them.Last edited: Aug 14, 2014

I was gonna but just the drops they use to dilate your pupils to look into your eye freaked me out. I hate shots too so the thought of my eyeballs getting cut made my old glasses seem like good old friends.
Isn't Lasik old technology? If I were to do it I'd find a doctor using the latest tech.
Dr. Wang (his real name!) in Nashville is a leading physician in eye surgery.
Also read about eye surgery gone horribly wrong. get googling! -
When I had it done (1988), it was called Radial Keratotomy. Had each eye done separately. After first eye was done, I covered bad eye and drove home. Lasted 25 years before I had to get reading glasses. Now, I'm wearing bifocal glasses (getting old sucks sometimes).
