Well just got out of the shop again, this time 6 injectors and sleeves. Had a vibration that was consistent with what a drive-line problem would indicate but discovered the culprit was injectors. So just posting that if you have a vibration or shuddering as they like to call it, there is a bulletin out for updated injectors on these D-13's. Wish they'd just make the #### things right in the first place. 2012 VNL 780 D-13.

Never would have thought that, but as expensive and high pressure as they are guess they could do strange things.

I have 1,330,000 miles, I had 4 times problems with injectors and cups, twice did cups only and twice the injectors; my last set ,steel cups and conical injectors lasted since 2011 approx 500,000 miles, (team truck). I don't know what's the cause , bad design , this insane ultra high injection pressure or the poor lubrication qualities of ULSD diesel; many drivers have problems with injectors even on older motors and are adding two strokes motor oil in diesel.
I start adding this product, is not expensive, about 8$ here in Ontario at Wholesale Club, and treats 3000L, approx. 800gal , I hope is going to work; p7sVmxV.jpg

Well this thing has 146,000 miles on it, had EGR replaced, 3 EGR coolers, Harness, updated Venturi pipe and DPF switch. They're tellin' me that this was the problem all along apparently contaminating the the rest of the food chain. Well I've heard that on more than one occasion so I'm taking it with a grain of salt. I gotta say tho' that the shop foreman at Bruckners in Dallas hit it right on the money when I give him the symptoms cuz after forty years I would have bet from experience it was driveline. Like you say the high pressure of these things causes air bubbles and if not 100% sealed will shake the complete crap out of you when you demand fuel. So far vibration gone.

2 EGR Coolers before 600,000 km and head rebuild at 758,000 km, here. Wiring harness only once. I hope it works better for the next guy.

Not uncommon, just the very reason lease purchase is the choice of the company. Passing on that cost.

    Tam_Tam Thanks this.
