From my experience a suspension for a FTA or FTP is not discouraging to many companies. It's the suspensions from DUI's, traffic tickets or accidents that throw red flags up. Get your CDL. 1 point isn't going to get you the best job but it also won't limit you to the worst either.

I'm just lookin to get my foot in the door. I know starting out I'm not going to get top pay.. I can always take a driver Improvement class & get more points added tho

In trucking driver improvement doesn't exist. Companies look at the severity of violations, suspensions and things that will cause them problems. Like what's going to affect their insurance and safety scores. If a company has tons of violations it hinders them in getting big accounts and affects them negatively with the DOT.

It shouldn't be a problem I had a ticket that my brother use my license while I was deploy, came back license was suspended for unpaid I found out after getting a ticket the cop was cool to say the least because we were both masons I assume I paid that 1 plus the old 1 and never look back, 6 years later I got my cdl and was ask by my employers about any suspension in last 10 years I say yep and no problem at all, got the job, how long has it been?

It was early this year it got suspended but the ticket was back in December of 13 ... All the fees are paid for and license is active ... I asked a guy I work with who's retired 40 years with crst & he. Said they care more about the dwi & dui more than petty stuff
