Ok, so heres the thing. Ive had my CDL since late 2005. We of course, learned to drive a sleeper. Since then though, ive been driving nothing but daycabs. I have an orientation set up in a couple of weeks where ill be out during the week. To all you drivers, whats the biggest difference between the two? What should I look out for with making the change back? Thanks

longer truck,no rear window. when backing use mirrors, and GOAL
turning, just make a slighlty wider turn

I have driven both, mainly a sleeper, and I always had to get used to the window in the back of the day cab. So if you go back to a sleeper, remember you won't have that window there!

Hi matt, the 1st 20 years of my career, I drove daycabs, and the last 15 drove sleepers, and I tell you what, I wouldn't drive a truck with out a sleeper again. The biggest thing, is when backing up to a wagon, get out, and make sure the trailer is low enough so you don't "high-hook". When backing in, I always opened my door, to make sure where I was, as I never fully trusted a mirror.

I have always switched back n forth as needed.

No worries, The sleeper because of wheelbase will react a little slower,

I hate daycabs because you get a bad back trying to nap. They are usually underpowered too.

We had both....luck of the draw as to what you drove from day to day sometimes. But , if I had to choose I would take the day cab.....easier to get into a tight lot. With the sleeper , you may have to GOAL look more.

lol...good responses all around. I thought I was gonna get reamed for even asking:biggrin_2554: Thanks for in input. a couple weeks and ill be good im sure. the roadtest I may be a little antsy though. if anyone is wondering, im going with Smith Transport. I just liked what they had to say for what I need anyways. Been reading a few posts here and there, looked around the website etc. I probably looked at 20 different companies....man its hard to choose

Day cabs are harder to sleep in. No privacy curtain!
