Hey buzz, Frightliner is ok, I drove a Century w/ a 500 Detroit, rode like a Cadillac, but had lots of little things go wrong, and the dealer was kind of iffy. I like poppapump's list. My 1st truck was Western Star, was a good truck, made money with it. Do they even make "Carcar's" anymore? Loved my old Pete (below), but again, dealer kind of sucked (not that I went to them for anything, but heard others say so).I think KW is the all time winner.
Top 5 trucks?

Do you mean "StarCar"?? LOL Yes they still make them.......really, really nice trucks. The closest thing to handbuilt you can get.......still MOSTLY hand-built in Portland, OR......I am speaking of the 4900 series. -
Hi SM, Ha, no I meant Autocar. Years ago we called them A-cars, or Carcars. I think the latest Autocars were basically rebadged Western Stars.

Sure thing I'll post a few websites listing the 579's fuel efficiency.

Thats just the supertruck the standard 579 is getting 7+ mpg

Both articles are just referencing the same test utilizing technologies that are not available today on production trucks.
It is not a stock 579, it is a one off, custom build based on the 579 they called the SuperTruck that incorporates a bunch of experimental technologies like converting exhaust heat to power, a custom Eaton transmission setup to work with the engine, chassis refinements, a custom trailer made to be as aerodynamic to the truck as possible, and a route picked to be as easy to get good fuel economy on as possible.
Don't get me wrong its a good truck and many of those technology's will make there way to production sooner or later but it's not like all (or any) 579's that come off the line today are going to get that kind of fuel mileage.ew2108 Thanks this. -

How do your Volvo drive?do it really give lots of problems sensor problems?
how many times did u break down with your 08 Volvo?
and what do it give you on the gallon ? -
Got to say I love my old 98 kenworth t800. Day cab, 1 200 xxx kms. Complete overhaul when i bought it 3 years ago at 1 million km. Every piece of the interior is still pretty tight, no rattle. They were built with quality parts. And still doing 7.4 mpg only city driving and moving about 60 trailer in the yard everyday!
Only thing tho... God is a rough ride. Cant imagine working at the rails.
